The organ concerts "At the Cross" are designed as hour-long cohesive programs, where alongside compositions by world-renowned masters of the Baroque and Classical periods, music by Czech composers is regularly featured. The listener-friendly yet artistically valuable dramaturgy alternates the already rich sound of the organ with combinations of its connection to solo instruments or singing, so the audience is constantly surprised by new colors and sound variations. The concerts typically feature three artists – soloists from our leading opera stages and orchestras, as well as educators from the Academy of Performing Arts and the Prague Conservatory. A traditional surprise for our listeners is the welcoming fanfares performed by two trumpeters in stylized costumes, played on "herald trumpets" for 30 minutes before the start of each concert on the entrance staircase in front of St. Francis Church. Inside St. Francis Church, there is a unique Baroque organ from 1702, which is the second oldest instrument in Prague. Many personalities have played on this famous, now sensitively restored instrument, including W. A. Mozart, A. Dvořák, and J. F. N. Seger. The organ is located in the right front part of the church, ensuring an excellent acoustic and visual experience.
