„I am thrilled that we are continuing to expand the program with names that appeal to different generations of fans. Billy Boyd will bring the legacy of the film The Lord of the Rings to Prague, while Ben Browder and Claudia Black will delight fans of the cult sci-fi series Farscape and Stargate. At the same time, we greatly appreciate that we will also welcome the Czech acting legend Jaroslav Satoranský among our guests,“ says Pavel Renčín, marketing director of Active Radio, the main organizer of the festival.

The festival will also feature the author of heartwarming fantasy stories, Travis Baldree, thanks to a collaboration with the Laser publishing house. He is the author of the successful loose series Legends and Lattes, in which characters start their new lives, whether building a café scented with cinnamon rolls or a bookstore full of books. Fans will have the opportunity to meet him on Saturday and Sunday.

Four floors full of games and experiences

As usual, Comic-Con will feature a rich program. This year, it will take place over four floors, with two floors dedicated to video games. Thanks to collaborations with many partners, visitors will be able to try gaming computers and consoles at more than a hundred gaming stations. Among the largest this year will be the gaming area of the non-profit association organizing the traditional Festival Fantazie, which is preparing for its 31st edition at the beginning of July. In the gaming area of the non-profit association Arcadehry.cz, fans will be able to travel back decades to the days of arcade machines. Interested parties will have the chance to try, for example, Dance Dance Revolution dance pads, Samsung phones optimized for gaming, and other specialties.

„The board game area at Comic-Con Prague is one of the largest in the Czech Republic. At more than fifty tables, both new releases and classic board games from most Czech board game publishers are played. Another dozens of tables are dedicated to card games like Star Wars, Lorcana, and Pokémon, as well as miniature war games with stunning terrains and intricate figures. We are also adding thematic exhibitions and strong partner displays, so there is truly something for everyone – from gamers to families with children to fans of literature and art,“ adds Václav Pravda, program director of the festival.

Another exhibition will showcase original movie posters from sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and action films from 1989 to 2009. Retro lovers will enjoy a collection of figures from the 80s and 90s, including iconic series like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man, Aliens vs Predator, G.I. Joe, Mighty Max, and Transformers.

The festival will also be complemented by a number of partner displays. PVK will offer 360° videos in a mobile planetarium focused on water and the Hydropolis project. The City Library will present the modern form of the library, and its representative will lead the Bookline scene, where dozens of Czech and foreign literary stars will appear. FTVS - UK will offer physical and reflex tests, where visitors can check their fitness and see if they would succeed in the role of a superhero. THE LARGEST TRANSPORT SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE PROJECT: CZECH BISON HAVE ARRIVED IN AZERBAIJAN

European bison from Prague Zoo and Olomouc Zoo have arrived in Azerbaijan. In Shahdag National Park, they will strengthen the local reintroduced population in the wild. Additionally, the original quartet of females has become a quintet – during the wait for transport, which was delayed due to the risk of foot-and-mouth disease, a calf was born to the Prague cow. The transport, organized last week by Tierpark Berlin and the German branch of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), was the largest of its kind. A total of eighteen animals headed to the foothills of the Greater Caucasus: twelve bison from German, Austrian, Hungarian, and Czech zoos and six from the Rothaargebirge mountains.
