The Rhythm of the Dance has been entertaining audiences worldwide since 1998. Irish dances are an integral part of Irish culture even today, and this unique authentic show transports audiences to the streets of Dublin as well as to the mysterious mythical mounds of ancient druids.
"Czechs have a fondness for Irish culture and dance, and last year's performance of Rhythm of the Dance was a great success. That's why we decided to bring this traditional Irish show back to them, but with a new program. Rhythm of the Dance is one of the oldest Irish ensembles and has literally traveled the world. What's great is that the entire show is LIVE, no playback, real dancers, singers, and musicians right on stage, you simply find yourself in Ireland for a moment," says Květa Havelková, spokesperson for JVS Group.
Live Music, Dance, and Singing
In addition to top dancers, singers and musicians with traditional instruments also appear on stage. Bagpipes, fiddles, tin whistles, accordions, and bodhráns, the traditional Irish frame drum, are typical for Irish music rooted in Celtic culture. All of this is experienced by the audience at Rhythm of the Dance.
"The fact that most countries around the world celebrate St. Patrick's Day or have an Irish pub shows how globally beloved and widespread Irish culture is. Rhythm of the Dance is a live show that both remains true to the tradition of Irish music and dance and has its own style with a modern touch," describes James Greenen, dancer, artistic director, and choreographer of the ensemble.
Carriers of Tradition
Part of the performance is the execution of sean-nós, which is a form of traditional Irish singing without musical accompaniment. In the case of dance, it is often a solo form where the dancer improvises to the rhythm of the song, creating an electrifying live connection. Audiences have a lot to look forward to.
This year, the Rhythm of the Dance show will be presented to the Czech audience in October, in Prague and Ostrava.
2nd October - Gong Ostrava
