The competition will start on Tuesday, July 29, with evaluations in Mělník, where expert committees will assess wines from the Czech wine region. Subsequently, the series will move to South Moravia – on August 4 and 5, wines from the Slovácká subregion will be evaluated, on August 12 and 13, wines from Mikulov will be assessed, on August 21, experts will evaluate wines from Znojemsko, and the competition will conclude with the evaluation of wines from the Velkopavlovická subregion from August 25 to 27. All Moravian evaluations will take place at the Wine Center of Excellence in Valtice.
“The National Wine Competition annually confirms the high quality of our wines. The great competition forces winemakers to raise the bar, which is beneficial for both them and the customers. The competition thus helps to build awareness of Moravian and Czech wines – and that is exactly our goal,” said Martin Chlad, president of the Czech Wine Association.
The National Wine Competition is not just about scoring – the best wines receive the title of Champion of the respective subregion, winners of individual categories will be announced, and medals will be awarded: large gold, gold, silver, and bronze. The producer with the highest average rating of their collection will receive an award for the best wine collection. A symbolic award for the champion of the subregion is also a barrique barrel donated by the competition partners in the respective subregions. (Bohemia – Czech Wine Guild, Slovácká – the city of Uherské Hradiště, Mikulovská – the city of Mikulov, Znojemská – the city of Dolní Kounice and the Brotherhood of Winemakers and Miners 1737, Velkopavlovická – the city of Hustopeče). The main partners of the competition are the companies BS Wine Supplies and Ford.
The highest-rated wines from each subregion will advance to the 1st round of the Wine Salon – the national wine competition of the Czech Republic 2026, from which 100 wines will subsequently enter the year-round exhibition at the Wine Salon of the Czech Republic in Valtice.
Wines not just for professionals – exhibitions of wines from individual subregions 2025:
Each expert evaluation part in every subregion is always followed by a public wine exhibition, during which visitors will have a unique opportunity to taste truly representative samples of wines from the respective wine subregion.
