Sherlock Holmes: The Exhibition, which will be officially opened on June 16, 2026, at the Bílá Labuť Gallery in Prague's Florenc, will literally draw every visitor into the world of criminal clues and the masterful art of observation. This interactive exhibition, produced by JVS Group, connects science, history, and culture, revealing the true sources of inspiration from which the famous and still vibrant stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle arise.
Visitors will discover how Sherlock Holmes, a scientist who was ahead of his time, was able to uncover even the most mysterious crimes of his era from insignificant details that others overlooked. His methods, born from the imagination of a doctor who became a writer, fundamentally transformed the face of criminology and continue to persist in many ways today. The exhibition will showcase original manuscripts and period artifacts, investigative tools inspired by Holmes's methods, and interactive stations where visitors can test their own detective skills. They will be transported to Victorian London and become part of a case in a world that was just getting acquainted with his groundbreaking methods.

The exhibition will come to Prague thanks to a unique collaboration between Exhibits Development Group (EDG), Geoffrey M. Curley + Associates, Conan Doyle Estate Ltd., and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, along with the leading Central European producer JVS Group.
“We at the Conan Doyle Estate, which manages the copyright to the works of Arthur Conan Doyle, do not recall a project that has been so extensive and at the same time so exciting,” says its American representative Jon Lellenberg. “Visitors will experience scientific and literary stimuli that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to create the character of Sherlock Holmes. They will also become acquainted with his unique methods of investigation and crime-solving that made him the first detective of his kind in the world, while also entering both of these worlds, including the authentic places where everything took place.”

Exhibition visitors will also learn about Sherlock Holmes's methods, the environment from which Arthur Conan Doyle drew when creating individual stories, and the history of forensic science. The exhibition is divided into several thematic sections:
- Dr. Conan Doyle's Study – Conan Doyle, a doctor with a scientific education, was throughout his life a curious and tireless observer. Visitors will gradually get to know his world. First as a medical student at Edinburgh University, then during his tenure at the Royal College of Surgeons, further as a practicing physician in Southsea near Portsmouth, and finally as a creator and literary genius who settled in London in the early 1890s and became a full-time writer. Original manuscripts, letters, and illustrations that reflect the experiences that inspired Conan Doyle to create the character of Sherlock Holmes will be on display.
- Science and History – Sherlock Holmes solved mysteries through observation and rigorous scientific experimentation. This approach was not yet used by contemporary real detectives, whether police or private. Visitors will engage in experiments themselves and explore the scientific and technological discoveries of the 1890s, which are still significant in modern criminology. With the expert support of forensic specialist and crime historian E. J. Wagner, author of The Science of Sherlock Holmes, the exhibition offers insights into real forensic studies and shows the connections between the stories of Sherlock Holmes, detective science, and the contemporary world.
- Sherlock Holmes on Baker Street – Visitors will enter the living room of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson at 221 B Baker Street in London, where their cases began and ended. This space has been deeply etched into the imagination of readers worldwide since the publication of the first Holmes story A Study in Scarlet in 1887. Poet Vincent Starrett wrote about this famous place: “Here still live two famous men who never lived, and therefore cannot die... Here, even if the world perished, they two will endure, and it is still the year eighteen hundred and ninety-five.”
- Become a Detective – Instead of a map at the exhibition, visitors will receive a notebook full of clues, with which they will set out to solve an extraordinary crime. Using their own observational skills, they can solve a completely new case of Sherlock Holmes, written especially for this exhibition by Daniel Stashower, an acclaimed writer and award-winning biographer of Arthur Conan Doyle. He is also the author of Teller of Tales: The Life of Arthur Conan Doyle and co-editor of the publication Arthur Conan Doyle: A Life in Letters, which is also a collection of new stories featuring Sherlock Holmes.
- The Culture of Sherlock Holmes – The final part of the exhibition will delight all lovers of popular culture and present a rich collection of everything “Sherlockian.” Visitors will see a wide range of items, from historical card games, comics, and magazines inspired by Sherlock Holmes to radio scripts, film and television props, or costumes. Original props from the Warner Bros. Sherlock Holmes films, set in the Victorian era, as well as costumes, props, and behind-the-scenes materials from successful television series Elementary (CBS) and Sherlock (BBC), which transport the famous detective into the present day, will be on display. The exhibition offers visitors the most comprehensive look at how Sherlock Holmes has been portrayed in popular culture over more than 126 years since his inception.
