The cult classic Lady on the Tracks comes to life at Fidlovačka in a new guise.

The first premiere of this year's theater season at Fidlovačka will be a new adaptation of the cult film musical "The Lady on the Tracks." The new version by Lukáš Pečenka plays with the original material and develops it with love and respect for contemporary audiences: alongside the now-classic melodies, several new songs by Petr Malásek with lyrics by Václav Kopta have been added. "The Lady on the Tracks" invites viewers on a journey (by tram) through the complex yet entertaining fate of a woman.

The story of tram driver Marie, who one day spots her husband Václav in the embrace of a completely different woman, is well known to the Czech audience. The original film musical has been entertaining viewers continuously since its premiere in 1966 and still regularly appears on television screens. It is no wonder, as its theme is truly timeless. After all, who hasn’t encountered a similar situation in their surroundings or even at home? However, Marie solves the problem with her mischievous husband in her own way: with temperament and captivating energy, but also with a lot of humor. From an unassuming girl, she suddenly becomes an unmistakable diva, who spices everything up – at least as long as her strength and annoyance last. Because whether a girl or a diva, the seed of doubt can sprout in each of us. “It’s quite easy to fall in love with The Lady on the Tracks. At first glance, it may seem like a simple musical comedy, but it is much more sophisticated and contains many hidden meanings, jokes, and beauty. That’s why we didn’t want to embark on any drastic changes with director Lukáš Pečenka. Instead, we wanted to celebrate what is best about The Lady on the Tracks. We aimed to translate it into a stage language tailored to today’s audience so that they would take away a similar experience from the theater as we had,” explains dramaturg Adéla Vondráková. “For this purpose, a fantastic cast that has gathered at Fidlovačka is also crucial,” she adds. The main role of tram driver Marie will be played by Vendula Přihodová, her husband by Ivan Lupták, and her love rival, boxer Bedřich, by Lukáš Rous. The duo of Marie’s whisperers will be played by Milan Peroutka alternating with Petr Kolman and Martin Überall.

Taste Mělnicko: Sometimes all it takes for good food is just to take a turn off the road.

How many times do we pass by an interesting place without even noticing it? And how many times do we search for good food somewhere far away, even though we have it almost around the corner? This idea gave rise to the project Taste Mělnicko, which connects gastronomy with travel and shows our region in a slightly different way.

Some like it hot. For example, borscht.

The September menu of the restaurant TADY CHUTNÁ balances between the freshness of the last summer days and the first pronounced flavors of autumn. Fresh goat cheese, Czech balsamic vinegar, borscht with pelmeni, tuna according to Jindřich Vaňha, and pears in caramel. And if the chef David Kalina had to choose just one dish? Definitely the tuna.

Morricone conducts Morricone. Tickets for the exceptional concert in Prague are disappearing at an astonishing rate!

There are melodies where just a few initial notes can instantly conjure an entire film in front of your eyes. The music of Ennio Morricone has long transcended the boundaries of the movie screen. On November 10, it will resonate in Bratislava at the Tipos Arena, and a day later, on November 11, it will also be performed in Prague at the O2 Universe, conducted by the person who has the closest relationship to it, the orchestra led by the famous composer’s son, Andrea Morricone. Interest in this extraordinary concert is high, and tickets are disappearing from sale at a dizzying pace. The opportunity to experience immortal film melodies live, performed by top musicians who personally collaborated with the Maestro, is becoming increasingly rare.
