Taste Mělnicko: Sometimes all it takes for good food is just to take a turn off the road.

Taste Mělnicko: Sometimes all it takes for good food is just to take a turn off the road.

How many times do we pass by an interesting place without even noticing it? And how many times do we search for good food somewhere far away, even though we have it almost around the corner? This idea gave rise to the project Taste Mělnicko, which connects gastronomy with travel and shows our region in a slightly different way.

New edition

The project does not want to determine which establishment is the best. It rather offers inspiration on where to go – whether you are a local or visiting Mělník for the first time. This is also served by a new printed guide, which presents 28 selected restaurants, cafes, bistros, patisseries, and bakeries. The guide is free, and visitors can find it in tourist information centers, at significant tourist destinations, or in selected accommodation facilities.

Another opportunity to taste the region will be the second year of the festival "Taste Mělník," which will take place from October 23 to November 1, 2026. A total of 16 establishments will participate in the festival, preparing special menus and offers that you won't normally find on their menus.

Mělník Film Festival

Mělník in the leading role/ The first weekend of November will belong to film in Mělník

The first year of the Mělník Film Festival MEFIF will bring to the city forty short films from emerging, student, and amateur creators. They will compete in the categories of feature film, animation, and documentary, and the winners will not be decided solely by a professional jury – the audience will also select their favorite film. And since MEFIF is not just about films, there will also be music, workshops, lectures, wine, and local gastronomy waiting for you.

Films in unexpected places

The festival will take place at several locations in the center of Mělník. You will not only watch films in a classic screening space – one of the festival venues will be, for example, the tasting cellar under the Kraus Wine Bar. And when you're not watching a film, you can head to a lecture, workshop, music performance, or taste something delicious at one of the local establishments that offer special deals for festival visitors.

Discover young hopes of Czech cinema

MEFIF gives space to young, emerging, and amateur filmmakers who bring their own ideas, stories, and perspectives on the world. From dozens of submitted films, the festival selected 40 films that will compete for the favor of the professional jury and the audience in three categories – feature film, animation, and documentary.

Besides films, also explore the city itself

MEFIF connects the film program with the atmosphere of Mělník and its local establishments. Between individual screenings, you can take a walk around the city, stop for something good, or taste local wine. The organizers are also preparing a map of festival venues, recommended establishments, places to visit, and practical information for visitors.

International Coffee Day: The Story of the Beverage that Connects the World

Coffee is today an integral part of everyday life for millions of people. Morning espresso, cappuccino after lunch, or coffee to go on the way to work – few beverages hold such a firm place in daily life. Every year on October 1st, the world celebrates International Coffee Day, which honors the diversity, quality, and tradition of this drink. And just as the ways we prepare and drink coffee change over the years, new and unusual combinations also emerge – such as the combination of coffee with the famous Irish whiskey from the town of Tullamore, which in the form of Tullamore D.E.W. Café Honey takes on a surprisingly new dimension.

Some like it hot. For example, borscht.

The September menu of the restaurant TADY CHUTNÁ balances between the freshness of the last summer days and the first pronounced flavors of autumn. Fresh goat cheese, Czech balsamic vinegar, borscht with pelmeni, tuna according to Jindřich Vaňha, and pears in caramel. And if the chef David Kalina had to choose just one dish? Definitely the tuna.

Morricone conducts Morricone. Tickets for the exceptional concert in Prague are disappearing at an astonishing rate!

There are melodies where just a few initial notes can instantly conjure an entire film in front of your eyes. The music of Ennio Morricone has long transcended the boundaries of the movie screen. On November 10, it will resonate in Bratislava at the Tipos Arena, and a day later, on November 11, it will also be performed in Prague at the O2 Universe, conducted by the person who has the closest relationship to it, the orchestra led by the famous composer’s son, Andrea Morricone. Interest in this extraordinary concert is high, and tickets are disappearing from sale at a dizzying pace. The opportunity to experience immortal film melodies live, performed by top musicians who personally collaborated with the Maestro, is becoming increasingly rare.

Museum Montanelli: ME! BEDŘICH DLOUHÝ

The Montanelli Museum will present the work of Bedřich Dlouhý, one of the most prominent figures in Czech post-war art. The paintings and objects come from the Montanelli Museum's own collection. They will provide visitors with the opportunity to engage with the work of an artist whose original artistic language combines precise painting, imagination, symbolism, and a distinctive irony.

One more weekend of vacation. The Krkonoš Mountains remain open to families.

In autumn, neither parents nor children have to say goodbye to the mountains. On the contrary, the Krkonošsko Mountains still offer plenty of options for shared days outdoors. Tourist destinations are open, and cable cars continue to take visitors into the mountains. The upcoming extended weekend promises an Indian summer, and the Krkonošsko Mountains in autumn colors are expecting an influx of tourists. Those heading to the mountains should therefore anticipate larger crowds and plan their routes in advance.

Young wines, goose specialties, and live music on the banks of the Vltava.

November in Prague has a charm of its own – and one tradition well worth experiencing. On Saturday, November 14, Náplavka will come alive with St. Martin’s celebrations, bringing together young wine, roast goose, music, and good company.
