Brno Christmas Markets 2026 – crafts, gastronomy, charity, and light installations

Brno is preparing Christmas and Advent markets again this year, which are among the best in Europe – in 2024, this was confirmed by the award of the title European Capital of Christmas.

New edition

In the city center, on an area of approximately two square kilometers, one Christmas-decorated square will gradually awaken from mid-November, offering a colorful program, refreshments, and accompanying activities. The markets at Zelný trh and Moravské náměstí will open to the public first on November 13. The markets at Náměstí Svobody, Dominikánské náměstí, and the courtyard of the Old Town Hall will welcome visitors starting November 27 – on the same day, the main Christmas tree will be lit at Náměstí Svobody.

Visitors can look forward to Christmas-decorated squares, adjacent streets, and historic courtyards, to light installations including the iconic Brno dragon in a sweater, to a traditional wooden nativity scene with a hundred life-sized figures, and to an ice rink and Christmas village for the youngest. There will also be a rich musical program – concerts of various genres, from carols and folklore to jazz, pop, and rock, will take place at the markets every day. Hundreds of stalls will offer traditional handicrafts and original local gifts created in collaboration with local creators. The Brno markets have long built their reputation thanks to their renowned gastronomy – quality food and drinks are offered by popular local businesses and vendors, making Advent in Brno a gourmet experience.

An integral part of the markets is also charitable activities. Brno is historically associated with the first tradition of a public Christmas tree in the Czech Republic, which was erected here in 1924 at the initiative of writer Rudolf Těsnohlídek – to this day, a collection by the Czech Red Cross is placed directly under the tree. This year, charitable stalls will also be available at the markets, and visitors will be able to participate through the project "Daruj kelímek," which supports non-profit organizations through reusable cups.

The Advent and Christmas markets in the center of Brno are organized through the collaboration of two organizers – TIC BRNO and the City District of Brno-Center.

Taste Mělnicko: Sometimes all it takes for good food is just to take a turn off the road.

How many times do we pass by an interesting place without even noticing it? And how many times do we search for good food somewhere far away, even though we have it almost around the corner? This idea gave rise to the project Taste Mělnicko, which connects gastronomy with travel and shows our region in a slightly different way.

Morricone conducts Morricone. Tickets for the exceptional concert in Prague are disappearing at an astonishing rate!

There are melodies where just a few initial notes can instantly conjure an entire film in front of your eyes. The music of Ennio Morricone has long transcended the boundaries of the movie screen. On November 10, it will resonate in Bratislava at the Tipos Arena, and a day later, on November 11, it will also be performed in Prague at the O2 Universe, conducted by the person who has the closest relationship to it, the orchestra led by the famous composer’s son, Andrea Morricone. Interest in this extraordinary concert is high, and tickets are disappearing from sale at a dizzying pace. The opportunity to experience immortal film melodies live, performed by top musicians who personally collaborated with the Maestro, is becoming increasingly rare.

One more weekend of vacation. The Krkonoš Mountains remain open to families.

In autumn, neither parents nor children have to say goodbye to the mountains. On the contrary, the Krkonošsko Mountains still offer plenty of options for shared days outdoors. Tourist destinations are open, and cable cars continue to take visitors into the mountains. The upcoming extended weekend promises an Indian summer, and the Krkonošsko Mountains in autumn colors are expecting an influx of tourists. Those heading to the mountains should therefore anticipate larger crowds and plan their routes in advance.

HALF-CENTURY IN GRAND STYLE: PRAGUE ZOO CELEBRATES ITS 95TH ANNIVERSARY

Traditionally, on Czech Statehood Day, Zoo Prague celebrates the anniversary of its opening – this time with the number 95! For Monday, September 28, the zoo has prepared a festive program in the presence of special guests. Costumes, historical vehicles, and stylish newsboys distributing period newspapers will transport the entire garden back to the 1930s. Interested visitors can have their hairstyles done for free in the style of that era and dance to the music of a live swing band. Visitors who arrive at the celebration in themed outfits will also receive a small gift. The program will also include presentations of new attractions and the opening of an exhibition celebrating 95 years of Zoo Prague. There will be popular sea lion training sessions, as well as commented feedings and meetings with the animals that were part of the beginnings of the Prague zoo: wolves, lions, and elephants.

Six businesses, six Negronis, six stickers. Holešovice Market is preparing its own Tour de Bar as part of Negroni Week.

Three ingredients, over a hundred years of history, and many ways to mix them. Negroni is among the most famous classic cocktails, and its traditional recipe is based on gin, red vermouth, and bitter aperitif in equal parts. Throughout this week, visitors will also be able to try its various forms at the Holešovice Market, where six establishments will offer their unique interpretations of this classic. Additionally, visitors can embark on their own "Market Tour de Bar" and collect stickers for their Negroni passport while tasting.
