The Křižík Fountain is named after its creator František Křižík, a significant Czech electrical engineer and inventor, who designed and built it as part of the Jubilee Provincial Exhibition held at the Exhibition Grounds in Prague. The fountain was initially a revolutionary work because the use of electric lighting and synchronization of water elements created a completely new experience for the audience. At that time, it was an absolute technical novelty that gained admiration not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.
Throughout its existence, the fountain has undergone several reconstructions and modernizations, with the most significant one taking place in the 1990s. Today, it is equipped with modern technologies that allow even more perfect synchronization of music, lights, and water.
Hundreds of colorful lights
The main attraction of the Křižík Fountain is the evening performances that combine water and light shows with musical accompaniments. Each performance is unique because the fountain offers a wide repertoire of songs, from classical music and film soundtracks to modern pop and rock hits.
The fountain has more than 1,300 nozzles that can create various water formations and is equipped with hundreds of colorful lights that provide stunning visual effects. The performances are often thematic, adapted to different seasons, significant events, or special occasions. Visiting this iconic landmark offers an unforgettable experience that visitors of all ages will love.
