The work of Zdeněk Mézl (October 31, 1934 – May 23, 2016) is known to several generations of readers primarily for his illustrations in books for both children and adults. The artist drew inspiration from the past in both thematic and stylistic aspects, with the art of antiquity, the Middle Ages, mannerism, and baroque serving as his models. The exhibition will present visitors not only with these illustrations and free graphics, in which Zdeněk Mézl applied the traditional technique of woodcut, but also with the artist's later painting and sculptural works from his later creative period. The exhibition, curated by Kateřina Mazačová, is held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the artist's death.
