JESSICA BAIO
California singer and songwriter Jessica Baio is one of the most distinctive new voices in contemporary pop and will perform at Prague’s Cargo Gallery on April 30. The artist, who has gained millions of listeners worldwide through viral covers as well as her own singles, brings emotional and authentic pop built on personal lyrics, intimate storytelling, and a strong songwriting voice. Following the success of the EPs catalyst and petals, featuring the hits “trust issues” and “he love me, he loves me not,” she released her debut album UNSAID in 2024, fully showcasing her ability to transform personal stories into powerful and relatable pop anthems. The album also launched her first sold-out North American tour, which culminated with a performance at the ULTRA Music festival alongside Steve Aoki and Trippie Redd. WHO? WHY?
Over the past six years, Daniel Pešta’s work has been presented in projects connected to the Biennale di Arte in Venice, including his solo exhibition Something Is Wrong at Tana Art Space in 2024. This body of work is now presented in the Czech Republic for the first time. We do not study history to repeat it, but to learn how to break its patterns. The era we are born into shapes us, yet history is also formed by our beliefs and civic action. Pešta works across media—painting, objects, installations, and video—exploring psychological, philosophical, and political themes with strong existential urgency and an increasing focus on the future in an age of technological power.

LIFE BEHIND WALLS: NORTH KOREA
“The regime silenced them. We hear them.” What lies behind the borders of one of the most secretive countries in the world? How do people live whose stories the regime never wanted the world to hear? The multimedia festival Life Behind Walls: North Korea will be the largest event dedicated to North Korea and North Korean defectors not only in the Czech Republic, but in all of Europe. It is created under the leadership of writer and Korean studies expert Nina Špitálníková, who has long documented the testimonies of people escaping totalitarian rule. The main immersive installation, spread across 1,500 m² in Hall 13 of the Prague Market, will take visitors behind the walls of the world’s most closed-off country, into a system designed to control every aspect of life.
