The ecclesi@ 2025 event will connect electronic music, singing, contemporary dance, and sacred architecture in an original project.
The Basilica of St. James the Greater in the Old Town of Prague will open its doors for the first time this year to an unconventional evening. On May 17, 2025, the inaugural edition of the event ecclesi@ 2025 will take place here, connecting electronic music, singing, contemporary dance, and sacred architecture.
Experience how a space with an eight-century-old history resonates with the beats of DJs, performers animate the area, and the audience is swept away by the holy jubilee atmosphere of celebration, art, and humility. The project was created as an inter-faculty collaboration between students of DAMU and HAMU, emphasizing openness, creativity, and a new approach to sacred space. Ecclesi@ is a celebration. A gathering. We celebrate the 800th anniversary of the arrival of the Franciscans in Prague and the Holy Year 2025.
Music, dance, aesthetics
Behind the musical altar, DJ CHUBASQUERO (David Ficek) and DJ expandcollapse (Ester Grohová) will present sets that blend ambient, techno, and downtempo layers. The evening will open with performative acts – contemporary dance and nonverbal theater that will use the genius loci of the basilica to tell stories without words. The techno warm-up will be provided by Adriana Štefaňáková from the platform JINÝ SVĚTY. The choir Veselé chvíle will kick off the ecclesia with their singing.
The entire evening will take place completely alcohol-free to enhance the atmosphere of the place and allow for a full immersion into the experience.
