Where to go for festivals this year: Music, flavors, and experiences

Summer festivals are just around the corner, and that means two things - theaters will close their doors, and various festivals will fully kick off. We bring you an overview of the best festivals you can head to with your friends.

New edition

BOSKOVICE FESTIVAL

The Boskovice Festival takes place from July 10 to 13, 2025, and for nearly 30 years has been one of the most significant summer events. In the historic center of the town, it offers music of various genres, theater, films, author readings, and exhibitions. The festival focuses on respect for nature, history, and social dialogue, and its unique atmosphere is created every year by dozens of volunteers.

LODENICE CLUB

The Loděnice Club in Benátky nad Jizerou is the ideal place for summer fun! From May to September, it offers concerts (Wohnout, David Koller, Mig 21, Tata Bojs, Queenie, and more), open-air cinema, sports activities, and swimming. You will find a summer pub with two terraces, a grill, and the possibility of organizing weddings, parties, or birthdays. The area also includes a skatepark, ping pong tables, darts, and the option to rent pedal boats, rowboats, or paddleboards. The riverside area is complemented by a reconstructed access to the water, swings, and space for beach volleyball.

MUSIC IN THE VINEYARDS

Music in the Vineyards with Raiffka is growing: a sixth location, more concerts, new performers. The series of summer open-air concerts will bet on proven stars of the Czech-Slovak scene in 2025. From May to September, over 50 music performances are planned, featuring artists such as No Name, Jelen, Mig 21, Čechomor, Queenie, Vojta Dyka, Tomáš Klus, Horkýže Slíže, and for the first time, Adam Ďurica. In addition to the five existing locations associated with wine, Kutná Hora will also be added. Pre-sales have already started, so don't hesitate and secure your spot at this unique musical experience as soon as possible!

JATKA FEST 2025

Jatka Fest 2025 will take place on June 27-28 in Pacov and will offer two days full of music and fun. On two stages, you will see Adam Ďurica, Rohony, Anna K., Totální nasazení, Koblížc!, Pekař, UDG, Dymytry, Sto zvířat, and more. Jatka Fest 2025 promises to stay true to its name and provide visitors with a great experience. In addition to music, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a rich accompanying program, including activities for children. For adults, there will be stalls with refreshments and drinks, as well as stalls with original goods and other attractions.

Midsummer Tunes

Midsummer Tunes returns on June 20-21 to Klůček beach near Mácha's Lake to transform the summer solstice celebrations into a two-day multi-genre festival. You can look forward to Irish, Celtic, and world music, thematic workshops, lectures, a Celtic village, and a fire ritual at sunset. The main star will be the Scottish Blazin’ Fiddles – masters of the violin who will energize the audience along with other bands from Slovakia, Poland, and the Czech Republic. The festival bets on quality – offering local gastronomy, proven drinks, and free drinking water. Step into tradition with a modern rhythm!

COLOR RUN

Experience the most colorful and fun run of the year! This unique experience is designed for everyone – individuals, families, groups of friends, and team building. This year we celebrate the 11th edition and bring even more fun, colors, and unforgettable moments. On the 5 km route, you will encounter five color zones with spectacular color explosions. If you are looking for something shorter, try the 1.5 km route, which, in addition to three color zones, also offers fun obstacles. Both routes are designed for everyone to enjoy – whether you run or prefer to walk. We kick off the first weekend of May in České Budějovice, followed by Olomouc, Ústí nad Labem, and Prague. We will conclude the summer color adventures in August in Pardubice, where another wave of joy and colors awaits you! The Color Run is not about speed but about joy. Here, time is not measured, and it doesn't matter your fitness or pace – what matters is to enjoy the day and take home memories that will warm you for a long time. The whole day will be enriched with an accompanying program full of music, competitions, sports activities for children and adults, and a raffle with attractive prizes. COOLIN FESTIVAL 2025: Two days of music, fun, and summer vibes. A summer without a festival? Unimaginable!

And the Coolin Festival 2025, which will take place on June 27-28 on Kmoch Island in Kolín, promises an experience you won't forget. SMILING SUMMER

Smiling Summer 2025 will take place on June 21, traditionally under the walls of Kadaň. The stars of this year's edition will be on Stage 1: Viktor Sheen, Yzo + PTK, NobodyListen, Hard Rico, Majk Spirit, Stein27, Redzed, Adam Mišík, Pam Rabbit. Stage 2 will feature: DJ Kharma, DJ Weisz, DJ Bravel. In addition, you can expect beauty stands, fun attractions for everyone, original photo points, large tents, and chill-out zones, food zones, and a camping area for comfortable overnight stays in Kadaň.

RUMFEST

Rumfest is an entertaining and educational celebration of real cane rum. The 13th edition will take place in Prague at Vnitroblock. Visitors can traditionally look forward to several hundred great rums from around the world, taste new and traditional rum cocktails, and enthusiasts will once again have the opportunity to attend educational seminars with leading experts from both the Czech Republic and abroad on various topics from the world of rum as part of the basic ticket. There will also be a food court with Caribbean and exotic cuisine and Latin music. The program will be complemented by guided tastings, which will take place in the adjacent club where you can taste the biggest rum specialties.

BEATS FOR LOVE

Beats for Love 2025 is heading to a new universe! The largest dance festival in Central Europe returns to the industrial heart of Ostrava with a record lineup of over 500 artists! Four days full of electronic music, unforgettable atmosphere, and innovative stage design will offer visitors a literally interplanetary experience. A new feature is the thematic connection of the entire area into a futuristic world. The festival will take place from July 3 to 6 in the Lower Vítkovice area, and no one who loves beats, lights, and endless energy should miss it!

DAVID ČERNÝ: PERMANENT EXHIBITION OF SELECTED WORKS

The permanent exhibition at the Musoleum Gallery features some of the most famous works by David Černý. The space, covering 1,200 square meters and spread over five floors, is filled with the latest pieces, but it also takes visitors back to the beginnings of the artist‘s work. Among the artworks, visitors will find installations that the public has never seen before, as well as displayed designs and architectural projects.

The film "9 Million Colors" about the friendship between a carnivorous shrimp and a blind fish has traveled the world and will be shown for the first time in the Czech Republic with a concert by Floex Ensemble.

An animated underwater musical with 9 million colors, created in a Czech-Norwegian-German co-production, will be presented for the first time in the Czech Republic as part of a special premiere combined with a concert by Floex Ensemble. The talented composer, producer, and clarinetist Tomáš Dvořák, aka Floex, is the author of the music for this first Czech wordless musical. It tells the story of a blind fish named Milva and a fearless carnivorous shrimp named Fran, who mercilessly chops everything that comes her way under the ocean's surface – crabs, turtles, and large fish. Until she meets Milva... The film, directed by Bára Anna Stejskalová, has already toured sixteen international festivals before its release in the Czech Republic, including the prestigious one in Annecy, where it was screened at the opening.

The thrilling historical drama Nuremberg brings to the screen one of the most significant trials of the 20th century through the eyes of a young American psychiatrist who finds himself face to face with Nazi leaders led by Hermann Göring. The star-studded film featuring Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, and Michael Shannon follows not only the fight for justice but also a dangerously fascinating encounter with a man trying to "argue away" his own guilt from history. The film, which aims to become one of the most discussed films at the beginning of next year, will be released in Czech cinemas on January 15, 2026, distributed by Falcon.

YEAR IN THE WORLD. A YOUNG GIBBON FROM ZOOPRAHA HAS RECEIVED THE SYMBOLIC NAME BAYU.

Friday the thirteenth – a lucky day for the silver gibbons at Prague Zoo. Last December, the experienced female Alang Alang gave birth to her fourth offspring. The energetic nature of the male, now named Bayu by the keepers, is reflected in his name, which means "wind" in Indonesian. The curious and playful young male stands out for his fearlessness and is training in the typical brachiation for gibbons. The first offspring of this endangered species was born at the Prague Zoo ten years ago, marking the first addition of its kind in the Czech Republic.

QUEENIE has announced a summer tour in 2026! Fans can look forward to a musical summer full of energy and legendary hits.

It has become a tradition that fans look forward to every year. The band QUEENIE, one of the best tribute bands in the world, has announced its summer tour for 2026. Following the successes of this year, the band will return to stages in the Czech Republic and Moravia with a new concert program that will once again revive the legacy of the legendary group Queen and Freddie Mercury.

World ballet in Prague! Stars from Paris, Berlin, and New York will perform at the first international ballet festival PRAGUE ON POINT.

The world ballet elite is heading to Prague. The new international festival PRAGUE ON POINT, which will take place from June to October 2026, will offer two grand gala evenings at the Karlín Music Theatre, the Prague premiere of the production Kafka: The Trial, summer masterclasses at the State Opera, and a final autumn premiere of a new choreography. The festival, founded by internationally recognized choreographer Jiří Bubeníček, has just started ticket sales.
