After being released from the reform school, eighteen-year-old Wellington finds himself in the midst of bustling São Paulo -- without parental support, money, or any idea of what to do with his life. His situation changes when he meets older Ronaldo in a porn theater, who makes a living as a sex worker. While inexperienced Wellington searches for his place in the adult world, Ronaldo has proven ways to stay afloat. A special bond forms between the men, which is much more complex than ordinary love. But will it be enough for them to be happy? The second film by director Marcelo Caetano explores the complexity of human relationships and the struggles of socially disadvantaged queer individuals, who often have to resort to illegal activities to survive. Baby premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the Semaine de la critique section for new talents, where it won the Louis Roederer Foundation Prize for Emerging Stars. The film also won the award for Best Latin American Film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
