Experience the Olomouc cheese festival.

Imagine two days full of folklore, culture, entertainment, and above all, great food from top regional chefs. This is exactly what the Olomouc Cheese Festival looks like every year, which has been a staple in the city's cultural calendar for nine years and fills the center of Olomouc with its aroma every April, so you can smell it from afar. This year, this outdoor gastronomic celebration is set for the weekend of April 18th and 19th and will also celebrate 150 years of Olomouc cheese production. You definitely want to be there!

New edition

Every year in April, you can spot Olomouc's Upper and Lower Squares from afar. You will be guided by the specific aroma of the Olomouc cheese, which has been celebrated here for the ninth year by the Olomouc Cheese Festival. This year, it will also commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of Olomouc cheese production in nearby Loštice. In addition to the traditionally rich program, you can look forward to special birthday activities at the A. W. booth, the producer of Olomouc cheese. They plan to distribute a symbolic 150 kilograms of cheese in 100g packages among festival visitors over the course of two days. There will also be a wall for birthday wishes and a stylish photo point at their booth.

Cheese in Dozens of Ways

Cheese served savory, sweet, cold, and hot. In the form of desserts, spreads, dips, creams, as part of burgers, meat, pancakes, potato cakes, pizza, soups, and even sushi. And that's still not all. The Olomouc Cheese Festival annually offers "cheese" in various ways. This year, Moravian restaurants and businesses, which can boast top-notch gastronomy and recommendations in the Gault§Millau Czechia guide, will prepare them again. At the cheese merchandise booth, in addition to this year's novelties, you will also find the original cheese praline that you must try during your visit to the festival. There will also be a traditional fair with regional products marked with the Haná regional product® label, among which you will find various cheese specialties.

Cultural Program for the Whole Family

However, the Olomouc Cheese Festival not only attracts with good food and cheese but also with a rich accompanying program and cultural experiences on two stages. On the Upper Square, folklore ensembles such as the Haná Men's Choir Rovina, the Haná Ethnographic Ensemble Olešnica, and the modern cimbalom music group Cimballica will perform. The main star will be the band Žlutý pes, and the beloved Honza Mlčoch will also perform with songs by Karel Gott, along with the multi-genre band Nedivoč. The program on the Lower Square is traditionally aimed at families with children. They will enjoy entertaining performances, fairy tales, and a juggling show. There will also be creative workshops and a cheese-making workshop. Between the two squares, there will be a large painting wall where a joint thematic painting will be created over both days of the festival.

Competition for Those Who Arrive by Train

In cooperation with A. W., the producer of Olomouc cheese, a competition is being prepared again this year for everyone who arrives at the Olomouc Cheese Festival by train. You just need to keep your ticket, show it at the info point at the main train station or at the information center on the Upper Square, and fill out a raffle ticket. Each festival day, one winner will be drawn in the afternoon for vouchers worth 1200 CZK for purchasing Olomouc cheese, along with two other winners who will receive practical gifts featuring the Olomouc Cheese Festival motif.
