NÁRODNÍ PAMÁTNÍK NA VÍTKOVĚ

The National Memorial at Vítkov, built in 1928-1933 to honour Czechoslovak Legionnaires, later added a hall for the Second Resistance and a statue of Jan Žižka by Kafka. After 1948, it became the Pantheon of the Communist Party and Mausoleum of Klement Gottwald, whose remains were removed after 1989. Today, it commemorates military history and freedom, with ceremonies by the army and state officials. The Ceremonial Hall, Presidential Lounge, and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are open. The observation deck is open until 4:00 PM in winter, closed in bad weather.

At Váhy: a Smíchov inn where tradition truly carries weight.

There are places that a person cannot invent from a desk. They must develop slowly. Years. Decades. Sometimes even whole centuries. One such place is the Bürgerhaus U Váhy on Nádražní Street in Smíchov. A building that appears unremarkable at first glance hides within it the story of old Smíchov, family traditions, honest cuisine, and hospitality that is not often seen today. U Váhy is not just a place to go for a beer or lunch. It is a house with a memory.
