The Mysterious Glow is heading to the Aviation Museum in Kunovice.

The aviation museum in Kunovice has prepared a unique experience for its visitors. On Saturday, July 19th in the evening, it will screen the cult sci-fi film from the 1980s, The Mysterious Glow Over the Pacific, right among the airplanes. The screening will also be combined with a night tour of the exhibition.

„The Mysterious Glow is already a film classic today, which is somewhat overshadowed by the younger and more famous first Top Gun. Both films offer stunning shots of aircraft that, except for one type, can now be found only in museums, including the legendary F-14 Tomcat,“ says Martin Hrabec, director of the aviation museum in Kunovice, about the film.

However, while Maverick heads to the famous fighter pilot school, in The Mysterious Glow, the viewer finds themselves aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, which sails back to the times of World War II. The plots of the films are therefore quite different. Both, however, according to Hrabec, are definitely worth watching. And this does not only apply to fans of aircraft.

„An interesting fact is that Kirk Douglas, who plays the captain of the aircraft carrier in the film, served as a sailor in the Pacific during World War II. Alongside him in this film also stars another father of a famous son, Martin Sheen,“ adds Hrabec.

In addition to the screening, visitors can also look forward to illuminated aircraft and a stylishly lit museum exhibition. This will open for them as part of the evening event at 9 PM. People will also have time to explore the exhibits after the film ends. The museum will remain open until after midnight. Tickets priced at 200 CZK will only be sold on-site.

Since we do not have benches available, we kindly ask visitors to bring their own blankets or mats.

The museum in Kunovice has ranked among the world's elite. It has acquired an ultralight from the 1930s.

The aviation museum in Kunovice acquired a new aircraft for its collection at the end of March. It is the HM-14 machine nicknamed Pou-du-Ciel, or Heavenly Flea. "It was a kind of predecessor to today's ultralight aircraft. People built Heavenly Fleas at home in the 1930s and 1940s according to a book guide. Anyone with a bit of skill could manage it," says the museum director Martin Hrabec about it.
