The concert was simultaneously the baptism of Mišík's album Jednou tě potkám, which Mišík released shortly before, marking the unexpected success of the later stages of his career, associated with collaboration with producer Petr Ostrouchov, and culminating with two more albums Noční obraz (2021) and Vteřiny, měsíce a roky (2024). All three mentioned albums together won nine Anděl Awards. The concert was also Mišík's only performance accompanied by Ostrouchov's band Blue Shadows, which recorded the three mentioned albums with him, here enhanced by members of Mišík's home band ETC... and other guests. At the time of the concert, Mišík was unaware that due to progressing health complications and the Covid epidemic, the end of his concert career was approaching. He had only a few performances left during the "covid break" in the summer of 2020. However, on 24/11/2019, he sang in excellent form.
The band Blue Shadows, consisting of guitarists Petr Ostrouchov and Josef Štěpánek, drummer Martin Novák, and bassist Matěj Belko, brought a new sound and new energy to Mišík's songs on the album Jednou tě potkám, leading to the decision that they would exceptionally accompany Mišík at the concert on the occasion of the album's baptism. Strengthened by several current and former members of ETC... (Pavel Skála, Vladimír Pavlíček, Olin Nejezchleba) and with the participation of other guests (pianist Martin Brunner and a brass section led by saxophonist Jakub Doležal), they performed together on 24/11/2019 the only joint concert, during which new songs from the baptized album were combined with Mišík's greatest hits, which were presented in a new form and differently than Mišík's fans were used to from his regular concerts.
„Petr came to me this year after my birthday, pulled out a great Bowmore whisky from his bag, and after a moment of chatting, he smiled mysteriously, said he had one more surprise, and told me to put on headphones. I admit somewhat immodestly that my jaw dropped from the recording of the concert in Archa – the sound, the performances of the musicians, interesting arrangements, the atmosphere, I was really thrilled,“ recounts Vladimír Mišík and adds: „Concerts have always immensely entertained me, and when the audience rewarded our efforts with applause, we found ourselves on stage somewhat like in paradise. I am immensely grateful for these rare experiences.“
The album contains nine songs from Mišík's classic repertoire: Šmajdák and ploužáky, Dvacet deka duše, Špejchar blues, Já a dým, Jednohubky, and Obelisk, as well as songs from the then-new album: Něco ve mně chrčí, Most, and Pět hospod, jedna ulice.
On the day of the album's release, a "photo clip" for the song Šmajdák and ploužáky, compiled from photos by Zuzka Bönisch documenting the concert on 24/11/2019, is also released, which you can watch here.
The band performs in the following lineup:
Josef Štěpánek – electric guitar, pedal steel; Petr Ostrouchov – acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, vocals; Martin Novák – drums, vocals; Matěj Belko – bass guitar; Pavel Skála – electric guitar, acoustic guitar; Vladimír Pavlíček – violin; Martin Brunner – keyboards; Olin Nejezchleba – cello, percussion, vocals; Jakub Doležal, Jaroslav Kohoutek, Filip Jiskra – brass section.
