Sára Konečná and Tereza Štětinová: BETRAYAL | Exhibition

The theme of transformation, growth, and maturation is explored in a new exhibition prepared by the European Arts gallery and auction house in collaboration with the Art Part Club.

"In order to grow, we must allow change" ... - a motif interwoven throughout the exhibition of works by artists Sára Konečná and Tereza Štětinová. The humanly unpretentious yet extraordinarily powerful works of both artists are united by the central theme of change as a fundamental element of every form of life. This inevitable movement, which we experience from birth to death, is explored by the artists not only from many perspectives but also through various expressive means. While some life changes are perceived as obvious and ritualistic, others occur rather inadvertently and secretly. The exhibition curator Anna Pulkertová likens this process to natural cycles. Whether it is the growth associated with vulnerability and the loss of an imaginary protective shell, or the relentless passage of time. The exhibition project Maturation points out that changes, although often resisted by people, are a necessary prerequisite for our maturation and development. Sára Konečná (*2002) is a painter studying in her third year at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, working in the Painting I studio under the guidance of Robert Šalanda and Jan Kostohryz. Through her work, she is among the most prominent artists of the emerging generation of Czech figurative painting. For the exhibition MATURATION, Sára Konečná created a new series of paintings in which she shifts from her previous work to a different conception of the inner state of a person. While in her earlier works she expressed psychological tension through vivid colors, restlessness, and intense relationships between figures, in the new series she turns her attention to calmness and the almost imperceptible transformation occurring within a person. Tereza Štětinová (*1987) lives and works in Prague. The artist originally studied photography at FAMU, where she developed a sensitivity to image, light, and composition. Gradually, however, she discovered the expressive possibilities of objects, sculpture, and spatial installation. In her sculptures, the artist does not capture the beginning or end of an event. She freezes a single moment in the middle of a process, when the original state has not yet completely vanished and the new one has not yet fully established itself. It is this liminal moment that connects human experience with the transformations of water, air, organic matter, and living organisms. Solid materials become carriers of movement, and stone objects capture phenomena that are inherently temporary, unstable, or difficult to grasp. Anna Pulkertová (*1991) studied art theory and history at UMPRUM and media studies and cultural studies at Charles University. In her practice, she thus combines a deep understanding of the artistic context with a broader perspective on social and media relations. Professionally, she operates at the intersection of art, business, and investment. She has worked as a curator and arts manager in a private bank, in galleries, and in auction environments both domestically and abroad. She serves as an advisor in the field of art collecting and investment. She is the founder of the Art Part Club. European Arts is one of the leading auction houses and galleries in the visual arts market. Thanks to collaboration with renowned experts and art historians, it has long been rated as the most reliable partner in the field. It also holds several auction records, including being the first to surpass the magical price of 10 million crowns for a work of Czechoslovak post-war art, specifically for the surrealist oil painting by Mikuláš Medek titled Flowerpots (Breakfast). The record was also set by the cubist work Lady with a Cigarette by Antonín Procházka, sold for 26.3 million crowns, among others. The European Arts Gallery, in collaboration with the Art Part Club, presents the exhibition Maturation, dedicated to the works of artists Sára Konečná and Tereza Štětinová, from September 4 to October 4, 2026, at Vodičkova Street 33 in Prague 1. The exhibition is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM free of charge. The opening will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2026, at 6 PM, with a guided tour featuring the artists and curator on September 17, 2026, at 6 PM. The project is included in the program of Prague Art Week 2026, during which a curated tour of the exhibition will take place on September 25, 2026, at 4:30 PM.
