The Birdcage is the name of a nightclub where everyone gathers to celebrate the inner goddess in a male body. The director of the cabaret and choreographer in one person is Georges, and the star of the show is his life partner Albin, who performs under the stage name Zaza. The pair of men have been living together for twenty years and are a respected couple in a free-spirited society. They have never had to hide their identity. At least until Georges's son announced his engagement. The teenage Laurent is about to marry the daughter of a politician who has built his career on preaching order, morality, and protecting the traditional family. And the future father-in-law insists on meeting the family of his future son-in-law...
