Klínovec: Mountain Adventures for Young and Old
The highest peak of the Ore Mountains is a great starting point for an autumn holiday. And although summer is definitely behind us, the season is not over yet. The cable car takes visitors to the top, where stunning views of the colorful landscape open up and a range of sports and leisure activities begin.
Cycling enthusiasts can head to the Klínovec Trail Park, which offers over 30 kilometers of trails of varying difficulty. Experienced bikers and families with children will both find something suitable. For less experienced riders, the ten-kilometer Azur trail is ideal, while more sporty cyclists can try Rubín, the technical Baron, or the adrenaline-pumping Illegal.
Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can try easy cycling. Just take the cable car up and head down the marked trails with mostly gentle descents. A popular experience is also riding down on all-terrain scooters, which can be rented right on site.

And what if you don't feel like cycling or scootering? Take a walk, visit the historic lookout tower, or simply enjoy the mountain views. Children will be delighted by the trampolines, while adults can relax in the refreshment area.
Autumn operations at Klínovec continue until November 1, 2026, including the autumn holidays. The cable car, bike and scooter rentals, and other activities operate according to the current operating hours of the Trail Park.
Boží Dar: Following in the Footsteps of Ježíšek
Just a short distance from Klínovec lies Boží Dar, the highest town in the Czech Republic. And right here, you can visit Ježíšek long before Christmas.
The popular Ježíškova cesta offers two circuits approximately 5.6 and 12.9 kilometers long. At various stops, children complete tasks, learn about Ježíšek's world, and can earn a small reward for completing the journey.
Another stop can be the children's area Novako, which offers fun and sports activities for families. Their availability varies by season, so it is advisable to check the current operations before visiting.

Jáchymov: Bears, Wolves, and Well-Deserved Relaxation
Jáchymov is not just a spa town. In its surroundings, you will also find themed trails that turn an ordinary walk into a small adventure.
The Bear Trail measures just under three kilometers and guides visitors through nature and local stories. A new addition for 2026 is the Wolf Trail, approximately 2.5 kilometers long, where children learn about the life of wolves and the nature of the Ore Mountains through play elements.
If the weather doesn't cooperate or you want to relax after an active day, head to the Aquacentrum Agricola. The pools, slide, and wellness facilities provide a pleasant enhancement to the autumn holiday for both children and adults.
Wolf Pits: A Trip into the Mysterious Past of the Ore Mountains
Nature and history lovers should not miss Horní Blatná. The local educational trail will take you on approximately five kilometers to the remnants of former tin mining.
The main attraction is the Wolf Pit and Ice Pit – impressive sinkholes created in connection with historical mining. Along the way, you can also climb Blatenský hill with a lookout tower and enjoy further views of the autumn landscape. When visiting the sinkholes, it is important to stick to the marked paths.

From the Czech Republic to Germany? Just Cross a Stream!
The Ore Mountains offer yet another extraordinary experience. During a single trip, you can visit two countries, and even on foot.
Start in Loučná pod Klínovec, where you will find a pleasant area with a pond and playgrounds. While the children enjoy some time on the climbing frames, adults can relax in the mountain nature.
From there, it’s just a short distance to the border bridge over the Polava stream. A few steps and you will find yourself in the German Oberwiesenthal, where you can stop for coffee or something tasty at one of the local cafes.
The main goal of the trip can be Fichtelberg, the highest mountain in Saxony. You can reach its summit via a historic cable car, one of the oldest of its kind in Germany. At the top, you will be greeted by views of the Ore Mountains from the German side and the possibility of further walks along mountain trails. Before your trip, it is advisable to check the current operation of the cable car. Even adrenaline lovers will find plenty to do in Oberwiesenthal. They can try the year-round bobsled track or take a ride on the Flyline for an extraordinary flight among the trees and experience the Ore Mountains from a bird's perspective.
Autumn Holidays That Don’t Have to End After One Day
In Klínovec and its surroundings, you can alternate sports experiences, family attractions, hiking, and relaxation during a single holiday. Spend one day cycling, another discovering fairy tale trails, and then venture across the border.
Whether you come for the autumn holidays with children, a romantic weekend for two, or an active stay with friends, the Ore Mountains offer plenty of reasons to stay a little longer.
