The collection and exhibition map 30 years of Czech post-revolutionary painting, providing a unique perspective on the wild 90s of Czech art and how the market was built without infrastructure at that time. The collection of the Dutch couple Yvette van Dishoeck and Boudewijn Jansen includes nearly two hundred predominantly large-format works – the exhibition thus offers a view of the Czech scene from the perspective of foreign collectors. Nikl, Rittstein, Císařovský, Bolf… A glance at the names from the Sublime Hyacinth collection suggests that its core consists of prominent figures from the Czech post-revolutionary art scene. The collectors met in Prague in the early 90s, where their passion for Czech art began to emerge, swell, and expand. For the collectors, these must have been extraordinarily adventurous years. However, this process was no less adventurous for contemporary Czech art itself. Despite the fact that Yvette and Boudewijn were certainly not insiders, in hindsight, the Sublime Hyacinth collection is a representative selection of what has primarily taken place in the field of young Czech post-revolutionary painting over the past nearly thirty years.
