“In Prague Zoo, 1025 young animals of 187 species of mammals, birds, and reptiles have been born or hatched this year. It is truly a great year with three young apes, another baby pangolin, and also the first breeding of a wombat,” said the director of Prague Zoo, Miroslav Bobek, today. “And I have one more piece of news. The female silvery gibbon Alang Alang gave birth to her next baby on Friday, December 13. After four days, it shows a good gripping reflex, drinks mother’s milk, and generally looks viable.“
People will now be able to see all the mentioned and many other newcomers for a discounted price of one hundred crowns.
“Entry to Prague Zoo during the Christmas holidays for one hundred crowns for everyone, whether adults, students, children, or even dogs, is a thank you for the support that a significant part of the public has for our zoo. It is also an opportunity for those who may have tighter budgets to visit the Prague Zoo, which they might otherwise skip due to financial reasons,” says Jana Komrsková, deputy mayor of the capital city of Prague for the environment.
The exception is seniors over 70 years old, for whom the regular entry price of a symbolic 1 CZK still applies. These discounted tickets will only be available for purchase at the ticket offices at one of the four entrances to Prague Zoo, not online.
Prague Zoo is now open daily from 9 AM to 4 PM. The exception is Christmas Eve, when it is open, including the pavilions, until 2 PM, with visitors allowed to stroll the grounds until 4 PM. After 5 PM (with the exception of December 24 and 31), the Light Zoo opens its gates at 5 PM, offering a route among illuminated lanterns shaped like African animals and plants, interactive projections, and a 70-meter-long light tunnel. The mentioned discount applies to the regular opening hours of the zoo, not to the Light Zoo, which has its own special entry fees and entrance.
