Escape from the City: Discover the Magic of Silence in the Czech Forest

Escape from the City: Discover the Magic of Silence in the Czech Forest

Stop. Exchange the city noise for an area of absolute peace. The Czech forest, stretching along the Bavarian border, is a forgotten paradise that captivates the weary mind. It offers the rarest commodity of today: deep woods, distant views, and above all, empty roads without crowds.

New edition

Active relaxation for body and mind

The gently rolling landscape is perfect for cycling and hiking trips. You can start your trip at Čerchov, the highest mountain in the area, where during the summer, bike buses operate from Thursday to Sunday and where you can enjoy great food. If you are looking for a strong story, take your bike to the places of the former Iron Curtain. A great tip for family trips are the abandoned villages. In the former Grafenried (Lučina), history comes alive today in the form of a fascinating outdoor exhibition. The landscape, where wild nature absorbs the traces of the past, will enchant adults and become an adventurous history textbook for children.

Architectural gems, living traditions, and gifts of nature

However, the Czech Forest is not just wilderness; many monuments and exceptional places are hidden in its foothills, which have often fought for their place in the sun in the past. The Riding Hall of Světce in Tachov is a testament to this, being the second largest riding hall in Europe. It was once threatened with demolition, but today, after a complete renovation, it brings joy to locals and tourists alike. Guided tours will take you into the chambers of the nobility, exhibitions of blacksmithing, or herbalism. The castle in Bor and the town of Stříbro have also undergone incredible transformations.

Do you long for an authentic experience? Visit the famous Chodské celebrations in Domažlice in August, which still live on folklore, just like the surrounding Chodské villages. One of them, Klenčí pod Čerchovem, also hides a playful museum where time flows differently - The House of Nature of the Czech Forest. Or combine exploration with bodily pleasures at the family brewery Chodovar in Chodová Planá. While adults will appreciate the wellness in the beer spa and the beer brewed with a five-hundred-year tradition, children will be thrilled by the tasting of the unique Il Sano mineral water. For a pleasant atmosphere and iron-rich water, you can also head to Konstantinovy Lázně.

Comfort without compromise

Isolation from civilization here definitely does not mean a loss of comfort. After a whole day spent in nature, you can expect top-notch service that will satisfy even the most demanding travelers. A perfect base for family expeditions is the modern Resort Český les in the village of Železná. It lies at the crossroads of bike paths right at the German border. It offers stylish accommodation, honest gastronomy, and an oasis of peace.

Discover a place where silence heals. The Czech Forest awaits.
