HOSPITAL KUKS
The Hospital Kuks is located in the picturesque village of Kuks near Jaroměř in eastern Bohemia. This historic site, set in the valley of the Elbe River, was established in the early 18th century at the behest of Count František Antonín Špork, who discovered a healing spring here. Thanks to him, the spa and an extensive complex including a chateau, a manor inn, and later the hospital itself were created. Kuks was once one of the most renowned spa centers of its time, attracting nobility and prominent figures. However, the fate of Kuks changed with a devastating flood that swept away the spa activity in a single night.
Today, the Hospital Kuks primarily serves as a monument to its Baroque past and an open-air museum of art. The most famous are the sculptures of the allegories of virtues and vices by Matyáš Bernard Braun, which adorn the area and the surrounding forests. It also includes a herb garden that was used in the past to supply the local pharmacy U Granátového jablka.

OBSERVATION TOWER DURCH
The atypical observation tower Durch was created in the White Carpathians in 2018 according to the design of architect Zdeněk Fránek. From a distance, it may look like a frame for a painting of this beautiful landscape. It also serves as a seating area for passersby or as a shelter from inclement weather. The observation tower is meant to prompt a pause in our hurried times and to appreciate the beauty of the White Carpathians landscape. It also serves as a seating area for passersby, who can calmly snack (on what they brought in their backpacks) and seek refuge in the shelter during bad weather.
