Historically long season at Klínovec: skiing took place for 136 days.

The winter season at Klínovec was one of the longest in recent years. Skiing was available for a total of 136 days – from November until mid-April. While many European resorts ended their season due to a lack of snow, the slopes at Klínovec remained open.

New edition

The season did not end due to conditions on the slopes, but for practical reasons – considering the lower attendance and the necessity to prepare the area for summer operations.

What contributes to a long season

A long season is not only due to favorable weather but primarily a combination of technology, experience, and daily work with snow.

Klínovec has long been investing in modern snowmaking and simultaneously works with water, which is key for producing technical snow. Retention tanks today can hold more than 60,000 m3 of water, allowing for flexible responses to weather developments throughout the winter.

Equally important is the work of the groomers. Slope preparation is not just about "smoothing" the surface, but about the correct timing, layering, and compacting of snow to ensure it lasts as long as possible even during higher spring temperatures. This combination of technique and experience is one of the main reasons why Klínovec can maintain quality conditions significantly longer.

Spring skiing that surprises

The end of the season is often the biggest surprise for many visitors. Spring skiing at Klínovec has a completely different atmosphere than the main winter months.

Days are longer, the sun is stronger, and the entire skiing experience feels more relaxed. In the morning, you can enjoy well-groomed slopes, throughout the day the sun's rays increase, and in the afternoon, it’s tempting to sit on the terrace with a view of the mountains.

Conditions on the slopes remain stable. Thanks to the proper work with snow and its quality, a good surface is maintained even on warmer days, allowing for enjoyable skiing without compromises.

A significant benefit is also the lower attendance. There is more space on the slopes, minimal waiting, and an overall calmer pace that families with children as well as more sporty skiers can enjoy.

A longer season means more opportunities

For visitors, a long season has one fundamental advantage – greater flexibility. Skiing is no longer limited to just a few winter weeks, but offers a wider scope for planning, whether it’s a weekend trip or a spring holiday in the mountains.

This combination of stable conditions, modern infrastructure, and availability makes Klínovec a place that can be visited even when one wouldn't expect it at other resorts.

Winter ends, mountains remain

As the winter season ends, Klínovec smoothly prepares for summer. Already at the beginning of May, the area opens to visitors in a different form – as a center for active entertainment with a Trail Park, hiking trails, and other activities for the whole family.

One season naturally follows another – and Klínovec remains a place worth visiting in every season.
