We will kick off the theater season with the premiere of the play „Give Us Back Sophia Loren“ by Klára Formanová, which was created based on the idea of Jitka Sedláčková specifically for Řeznická. The main roles will be played by Radim Madeja, Jitka Sedláčková, Michal Kern, and Dagmar Zázvůrková, an actress and great singer, who will present the most famous songs associated with the personality of Sophia Loren. This magical comedy is dedicated to today's sixty-somethings, their children, but essentially to everyone who is dealing with everyday banal relationship twists. The theater in Řeznická will present it in its world premiere on September 14, directed by the theater's director, Lukáš Pečenka.
Just before the end of the calendar year, there will be two premieres. At the beginning of December, the play Monster by the award-winning English playwright Duncan Macmillan is scheduled. A current and engaging analysis of the barriers that prevent us from creating natural authorities and hinder open communication. Are adolescents problematic, or should we problematize the system and ourselves, who co-create it? Following the events at the Faculty of Philosophy, the play has become uncomfortably relevant, and it is necessary to talk about this issue. The main roles will be played by Jan Dlouhý and Tomáš Havlínek, complemented by ladies Kateřina Macháčková and Annette Nesvadbová. Before the Christmas holidays (December 19 and 20), the audience at Řeznická can look forward to a treat in the form of the premiere of the absurd comedy Chaos, by Finnish playwright Mika Myllyaho, which will be presented under the direction of Radim Špaček by the guest troupe INDIGO company. On stage, three middle-aged women meet, who find themselves at a point where they are losing control over their lives. Due to unexpected circumstances, their existential crisis turns into complete chaos – and that chaos becomes the source of both absurdly comic and deeply truthful situations. You can look forward to performances by Zuzana Kajnarová, Lucie Pernetová, Lenka Zbranková, Veronika Janků, Svatava Hanzl Milková, and Veronika Svojtková.
Spring will bring the Czech premiere of the tragicomedy with the short and succinct title Ex by the acclaimed German playwright Maria von Mayenburg, which will feature actors Zuzana Zlatohlávková, Lenka Zbranková, and Jiří Š Hájek under the direction of Jakub Šmíd. The play is based on the biting and precise dialogue of the married couple Daniel and Sibille. Essentially, the problem-free life of a successful middle-class couple with two children is stagnating and deepening its emptiness. When one evening Daniel's ex appears at the door, there is no way back.
With a view to the 26/27 season, we would also like to outline the last project that will be created in the autumn of 2026. It will be an original production V Gala, directed by Jiří Š Hájek. The starting point for this production is the book Gala Dali by Carmen Domingo. Although it is biographical material, the production does not aim for this theatrical form. From the person of
Gala Dali, this uncompromising, passionate, arrogant, wild, vital, and immensely inspiring woman, rather emerges a feeling, the essence of the female question. Specifically, the production focuses on the aging of active women who do not intend to let go of their creativity and life easily. The actors, co-authors, and initiators of the production are Stanislava Jachnická, Gabriela Vernelho, Leona Qaša Kvasnicová, and Jan Zadražil.
„After last year's, our first season, we are excited about new titles and the outlook for the coming years, which will bring new colors to the theater in Řeznická. The titles Eleanor, Váňa, and Gardener are a great and rich start to our work. The theater we are preparing and want to offer will be distinctive, closely connected with the personalities of the creators. We take from the name of the theater that CUT, which does not want to encompass themes in their generality, but specific excerpts with which everyone can identify in their own way. We offer theater that stimulates debate, based on craft-precise art, which perceives the audience as partners. We are looking forward to the personalities who will connect their names with our theater and leave something of themselves here, which we will be able to offer to a wide audience that has its doors wide open to Řeznická.“
