… a historic atmosphere

Do you know the best thing about Olomouc? You don’t have to walk far to see a lot. Highlights of the city such as the Holy Trinity Column—which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000—or the historic City Hall with its astronomical clock are just a few meters apart. Same goes for the Lower Square with its Marian Column which is visible from the City Hall. In the city center, you’ll also find most of Olomouc’s Baroque fountains, and the famous St. Wenceslas Cathedral is just a few minutes’ walk from there.

As you stroll through the city, don’t forget to look up. Many historic buildings in the city center and beyond have kept their original house signs, protective symbols, and magnificent busts that will never cease to amaze you. Guided tours of the city will also take you back in time and show you many of Olomouc’s hidden treasures.

… summer evenings and unique musical performances

On warm summer evenings, when there’s no rush to head home, Olomouc organizes laid-back concerts and open-air theater performances. In summer, it’s not just the city center that comes alive with culture, but also the parks and spots like the Crown Fortress complex. Olomouc’s cathedrals and churches also transform into concert halls, offering incredible musical experiences thanks to their unique acoustics. Summer evenings in Olomouc’s courtyards have an unforgettable atmosphere too, and we also know how to make our riverfront rock with music.

… walks in the parks

The city parks form a green belt around Olomouc, and all it takes to find yourself surrounded by nature is a quick walk down the stairs from the historic city center. You can walk the main paths and admire the various historical monuments and medieval fortifications along the way, above which stand historic religious, military, and university buildings. Or you can take the side paths and discover their hidden nooks and crannies. With children, you can enjoy a walk through the Botanic Garden and the Garden of the Senses. The Olomouc Rosarium, which is actually the second-largest rosarium in the Czech Republic, is worth a visit—especially in summer. Head out for a walk in Olomouc’s parks to clear your head, sit down with a book, or perhaps have a picnic there.

… quality time with your family

Olomouc has many activities tailored to kids. And we guarantee that the whole family will enjoy them together. One place you definitely shouldn’t miss is Fort Science. It originally served as a military warehouse, but today it’s a place where science becomes fun—and not just for kids. A fair warning, though—time flies by much faster there, and it’s easy to spend an entire day playing with the exhibits. The rope center, water park, and of course, the Zoo at Svatý Kopeček also offer plenty of family fun, especially in the summer. In the city center, you’ll also find countless cafés that have cool play areas for curious kids, as well as great coffee and desserts for tired parents.
