DRESDEN CHRISTMAS MARKETS

The Dresden Striezelmarkt is considered the oldest Christmas market in Germany and this year it takes place for the 590th time at Altmarkt square from November 27 to December 24, 2024. The market is known for its traditional elements, such as Pflaumentoffel, which are handmade chimney sweep figurines made from dried plums, a tradition that dates back to the 17th century. An interesting feature is also the historic giant wheel, which offers a romantic view of the market from above. Visitors can expect a rich cultural program full of Christmas performances, and of course, the original Dresden Christmas stollen, which is a popular delicacy, cannot be missed. ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN CÁCHY

Discover winter Cáchy and let yourself be enchanted by the Christmas market in Cáchy in a beautiful atmosphere. Fragrant mulled wine is as much a part of Christmas in Germany as sweets or gifts. This year, the first climate-neutral stall with mulled wine will be presented. In addition to this traditional treat, visitors can enjoy other regional specialties. This elegant market at Gendarmenmarkt is one of the most famous in Berlin. The surrounding baroque buildings and the wonderful atmosphere create the magic of Christmas. A 50-meter-high panoramic Ferris wheel will become the highlight of Christmas in Berlin. From the enclosed panoramic gondolas, you have a beautiful view of the Christmas hustle and bustle of the big city. Amusement park lovers will find joy at the foot of the TV tower: historic children's carousels up to 100 years old and a nostalgic chain carousel for everyone make the Berliner Weihnachtszeit an unforgettable experience. Forty decorated Christmas stalls proudly showcase lovingly presented craftsmanship and great gift ideas – from Krušnohory wood carving to Christmas decorations, from candles and ceramics to unique one-of-a-kind items. CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN ERFURT

The city of Erfurt is celebrating the Advent season for the 174th time. The wide range of festive attractions at the market attracts approximately two million visitors of all ages each year. At Domplatz, Fischmarkt, and Willy-Brandt-Platz squares, and along the streets Anger and Schlösserbrücke, over 200 wooden stalls offer Christmas goods of all kinds. Anyone who takes a trip to Erfurt will not regret it.

The largest electronic dance music festival in the heart of Europe is coming with the announcement of another global megastar who will perform at the 12th edition of the most anticipated electronic music event of the year. It will take place at the Dolní Vítkovice complex in Ostrava from July 1 to July 4, 2026.

The Hrady CZ Festival will enter its third decade with Mirai, Landa, and Mig 21, and will take place in Hluboká nad Vltavou for the first time.

Exclusive ninety-minute extended concerts by Daniel Landy and Mirai, as well as a new stop at Hluboká Castle over the Vltava River – these are the attractions of the 21st edition of the traveling music festival Hrady CZ. The organizers are presenting the complete music program for their eight summer stops. The Friday program will feature concerts by Rybičky 48, Mig 21, rapper Rytmus, Trautenberk, and others, while Saturday will belong to the aforementioned Mirai and Daniel Landa, Vypsaná fixa, and Harlej. The festival will kick off on Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, at Točník Castle, and will then resonate through seven more castles and chateaus – Kunětická hora, Švihov, the brand new Hluboká nad Vltavou, Veveří, Hradec nad Moravicí, Bouzov, and will conclude its tour on August 28 and 29 at Bezděz.

The museum in Kunovice has ranked among the world's elite. It has acquired an ultralight from the 1930s.

The aviation museum in Kunovice acquired a new aircraft for its collection at the end of March. It is the HM-14 machine nicknamed Pou-du-Ciel, or Heavenly Flea. "It was a kind of predecessor to today's ultralight aircraft. People built Heavenly Fleas at home in the 1930s and 1940s according to a book guide. Anyone with a bit of skill could manage it," says the museum director Martin Hrabec about it.
