DRESDEN CHRISTMAS MARKETS

The Dresden Striezelmarkt is considered the oldest Christmas market in Germany and this year it takes place for the 590th time at Altmarkt square from November 27 to December 24, 2024. The market is known for its traditional elements, such as Pflaumentoffel, which are handmade chimney sweep figurines made from dried plums, a tradition that dates back to the 17th century. An interesting feature is also the historic giant wheel, which offers a romantic view of the market from above. Visitors can expect a rich cultural program full of Christmas performances, and of course, the original Dresden Christmas stollen, which is a popular delicacy, cannot be missed. ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN CÁCHY

Discover winter Cáchy and let yourself be enchanted by the Christmas market in Cáchy in a beautiful atmosphere. Fragrant mulled wine is as much a part of Christmas in Germany as sweets or gifts. This year, the first climate-neutral stall with mulled wine will be presented. In addition to this traditional treat, visitors can enjoy other regional specialties. Handcrafted products will also be available. November 22 – December 23

ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN BERLIN

This elegant market at Gendarmenmarkt is one of the most famous in Berlin. The surrounding baroque buildings and the wonderful atmosphere create the magic of Christmas. A 50-meter-high panoramic Ferris wheel will become the highlight of Christmas in Berlin. From the enclosed panoramic gondolas, you have a beautiful view of the Christmas hustle and bustle of the big city. Amusement park lovers will find joy at the foot of the TV tower: historic children's carousels up to 100 years old and a nostalgic chain carousel for everyone make the Berliner Weihnachtszeit an unforgettable experience. CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN MÍŠEŇ

Forty decorated Christmas stalls proudly showcase lovingly presented craftsmanship and great gift ideas – from Krušnohory wood carving to Christmas decorations, from candles and ceramics to unique one-of-a-kind items. Additionally, there is a large Advent calendar on the historic town hall. Míšeň Christmas offers something for everyone!

CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN ERFURT

The city of Erfurt is celebrating the Advent season for the 174th time. The wide range of festive attractions at the market attracts approximately two million visitors of all ages each year. At Domplatz, Fischmarkt, and Willy-Brandt-Platz squares, and along the streets Anger and Schlösserbrücke, over 200 wooden stalls offer Christmas goods of all kinds. Anyone who takes a trip to Erfurt will not regret it.

In just six months, the industrial area of Dolní Vítkovice will come alive with the powerful beats of electronic music, and tens of thousands of lovers and supporters of the Beats for Love festival will visit Ostrava. The eleventh edition of this unique dance event will once again welcome crowds of world-class stars, and the organizers are preparing a number of changes and innovations that will surely delight all visitors.

The most viewers came to Czech cinemas in 2024 for Waves, and the Alcoholic's Notebook also performed well.

In summary, the most visited film of 2024, according to the final statistics released by the Union of Film Distributors, is Waves. It attracted 885,767 viewers to Czech cinemas, surpassing the sequel to the global hit In the Head 2. The Pixar animated film remained in second place with an attendance of 883,152 people. The success of Jiří Mádl's thrilling thriller is not the only achievement that Bontonfilm contributed to last year. They also released the second most visited domestic film – The Alcoholic's Notebook, which confidently surpassed the half-million viewer mark. Thus, the company remains the leader in the distribution of Czech films. Both titles also performed well in Slovakia.

Kunsthalle Prague presents the program for the year 2025.

In its third year of existence, Kunsthalle Praha welcomed again more than 100,000 visitors. It enters 2025 with the audience-successful exhibition Chiharu Shioty: Restless Souls and a plan for five more exhibitions. Among them will also be a showcase of the finalists of the Czech Grand Design annual awards with an authorial interpretation by the artistic duo SHOTBY.US. In three galleries of the architecturally acclaimed building, a number of artistic names will be presented to the Czech audience for the first time. The key exhibition will be "And Nothing Will Divide Us," the first joint presentation of Anna-Eva Bergman and Hans Hartung, a pioneering couple of abstract art from the first half of the 20th century. The internationally recognized artist Roman Ondak and the New York-based artistic duo Kristyna and Marek Milde will also have their Czech institutional premieres.
