The Prague Street Theatre Festival has been a fulfilled dream since 2008.
Street theater is an ancient, genuine, current, and free form of theatrical art. The artist and the audience are maximally close in their dialogue. The theatrical language is universal, immensely rich, and uses the language of drama, new circus, dance, and film. The creator's imagination and expressive means have no limits of enclosed space. The audience experience is individualized and direct. The stage and the audience can be the street, park, square, garden, or industrial space. Boundaries are almost nonexistent. The goal is dialogue and a sense of shared experience. That is why we are here and hopefully will be in the coming years, that is why we travel the world and select the best we can show with colleagues from other festivals. That is why we initiate the creation of new Czech projects, which then set off on journeys again from us.
What would the famous Cotton Club look like if it were floating in orbit around Saturn? And what happens when burlesque meets space, acrobatics meets jazz, and reality meets fantasy? The Saturn Revue, a new grand cabaret show that will first light up the stage of the legendary Nová Spirál in Prague's Exhibition Grounds on September 4, 2025, offers answers to these questions and more. This visually, musically, and dramaturgically exceptional project combines elements of art deco, retrofuturism, and vintage burlesque, creating a genre-unique spectacle that has never been seen in the Czech Republic.
