Travel lecture by Vilém Veverka. He is not only a traveler and photographer, but above all a top Czech oboist.
Greenland in winter - the coldest island through the eyes of a photographer. After repeated photographic trips to Iceland and Svalbard, in 2024 he set off to Greenland, specifically to its western coast. The traveler Vilém Veverka says: "Greenland, which I deliberately visited in winter, is one of the most authentic landscapes one can experience today. It is hard to imagine that someone would venture to such a place without a camera. My approximately ten days were more of an intense first experience than an exhausting journey. Therefore, I see the lecture as an introduction for those considering a trip to Greenland, as well as for those generally interested in this landscape and culture. Greenland is a specific and remote destination that stands out not only for its dimensions and climate but also for the very conditions for photography - including the demands on equipment. Experiencing Greenland once is not enough. However, thanks to photography, I perceived this journey more intensely, and while preparing the lecture, I return to it again. The photographs are proof that nothing from this "somewhat different planet" seemed strange to me." Vilém Veverka is not only a traveler and photographer but also a top Czech oboist, known from concert stages.
