The largest design and fashion showcase in Central Europe will once again take visitors to exceptional places in Prague and present a number of new exhibition projects.
Designblok will take place from October 6 to 11, 2026, and will introduce the theme of Light, which will philosophically and curatorially frame the twenty-eighth edition. The largest showcase of design and fashion in Central Europe will once again take visitors to exceptional places in Prague and present a number of new exhibition projects.
The central theme of this year's Designblok will be light – a symbol of knowledge, truth, hope, and life. This year, the festival will focus on the influence and role of design in society and on questions of how design can contribute to the development of human lives and address the socio-economic challenges of contemporary society. Curated exhibitions, exhibitor installations, discussions on the Designblok Stage, and the program within the Designblok Talks conference will explore light in both practical and symbolic senses.
The main exhibition will feature a showcase of lighting fixtures and lamps from Central Europe from the 1980s, prepared under the curatorial concept of Eva Slunečková in collaboration with the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague. In the National Gallery Prague, Maxim Velčovský will create a monumental light object for the Small Hall of the Trade Fair Palace under the curatorial guidance of Michal Novotný and Michaela Kádnerová. Installations and new products from leading Czech manufacturers and designers of lighting will also be presented.
Designblok, in collaboration with the Administration of Prague Castle, continues to open exceptional buildings of one of the largest castle complexes in the world to the general public. The festival returns to the Riding School of Prague Castle, and a special exhibition will also be created in the Chapel of the Holy Cross in the Second Courtyard.
The exhibition + - Zlín, which opened in October 2024, provides visitors with a glimpse into fine arts, architecture, and design, drawing primarily from the institution's extensive collections. Its main theme is the dual face of the city – on one side, the modern industrial Zlín associated with the Baťa company, and on the other side, Zlín connected with nature, the countryside, and traditions. It is the contrast between these two worlds that forms the foundation of the entire exhibition.
Prague's Rieger Gardens come alive with a large fan Watch Party during the Ice Hockey World Championship. In the special Nordic Spirit fan zone, fans can watch broadcasts of the Czech national team's matches on big screens, enjoy the accompanying program of the podcast "Puk then beer," and meet significant guests from the hockey world, such as Jakub Voráček.
On Saturday, August 15, 2026, the historic Gabriel Loci complex in Prague's Smíchov will once again transform into a space full of movement, music, inspiration, and inner peace.
