The film festival is celebrating 20 years. It will commemorate the Oscar-winning The Lives of Others and present The Golem with live musical accompaniment.
For the twentieth year, the film festival brings the current cinema of German-speaking countries to Czech cinemas. The anniversary edition will offer around thirty award-winning films from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, including a notable twenty new releases from prominent directorial personalities and extraordinary debuts in the main program. The program will connect various genres, authorial approaches, and perspectives on the world around us, ranging from captivating family stories and films about finding one's path to socially urgent dramas, gripping thrillers, unconventional comedies, and documentaries. Among the award-winning films are, for example, the mysterious story of loss and reconciliation Forever, the brisk drama Heroine, the chilling political thriller Justice, and the emotionally charged drama Tender Monster. Several screenings will be personally introduced by their creators.
