„Women are an eternal theme. They are present in all layers of art. They patiently stood as models, were muses for famous artists, and sources of inspiration. We can see depictions of women in paintings, sculptures, porcelain figures, glass paintings, and even furniture. They were loved by all styles from the Renaissance through Baroque and Art Nouveau to Art Deco. They can literally be found across art, which we will also present at our fair. Just say The Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Birth of Venus, Mona Lisa, the portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer, and one is transported into a world of beauty. But we also want to highlight women authors, who have been underestimated in history and only since the twentieth century have been able to assert themselves so that the world takes them seriously. Who today does not know Frida Kahlo or Toyen?“ says the president of AS, Ing. Jan Neumann.

As part of the accompanying program, visitors can look forward to three lectures and an exhibition dedicated to Czech female artists. There will also be another lecture and a ceremonial presentation of the book The Reliquary of St. Maurus, directly from restorer Andrej Šumbera, who presents this unique gem of medieval goldsmithing in a new, previously unseen light.

„We feel a kind of debt in this, because among artists, men have truly predominated for centuries. This year, an exhibition of Parisian women took place at the Litoměřice Gallery, and at the Valdštejn Riding School, the exhibition Women, Masters, and Artists 1300 -1900 is still ongoing. We have decided to present artists from the late 19th century to the present in the accompanying exhibition, and there will also be further accompanying programs dedicated to women artists. It will be very much about women, but also for women, who will be able to choose Christmas gifts, especially jewelry,” notes the vice president of AS, Ing. Simona Šustková.
Visitors will again have the opportunity to use the services of a free advisory service, where our experts will explain the origin and value of their treasures from the ground.
