In the southern part of the Waldviertel region lies power directly on the way. You just have to pick it up. Those who immerse themselves in the Weinsberger Wald forest will encounter mystical energy - at the stones that the druids used for their rituals and at a truly exceptional place: the Ysperklamm gorge with wild and gentle water. Its power is utilized by the Krenn distillery along with fruits and herbs that grow along the paths, especially in its internationally acclaimed noble distillates. "It is very specific here, the water is iron-rich and soft," says young innkeeper Lukas Krenn. "This is one of the key factors for the success of our distillates, whose main element is water."

Our tip for a trip: The Certified Druid's Trail leads through the raging Ysperklamm gorge to mysterious power places. At the top by the Kaltenbergkreuz cross, there is a spectacular view of southern Waldviertel. Those who want to delve deep into the history of the gorge should take a guided nature walk.

In the west rise quiet peaks. Among them lies Lunzer See, the only natural lake in Lower Austria. To the southeast, the valley is interspersed with impressive gorges. In the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, the presence of the water element can be felt; the Ötscher gorges are places with exceptional energy. Harsh rocky walls and impressive waterfalls await discovery.

The highest in the country is the Trefflingfall waterfall, which drops over 120 meters into the icy Erlauf River. At the foot of the Gemeindealpe mountain, whose challenging ascent is rewarded with a beautiful panorama, lies the turquoise lake Erlaufsee. A perfect place to dive into the water after hikes or relax on a boat ride.

Our tip for a trip: Like lumberjacks of old, you can explore the Ötscher gorges on various challenging paths, bridges, and walkways with the starting point at the Ötscher-Basis Wienerbruck base. However, what you should not overlook on the way, you will find out during a guided walk about the poisonous plants in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park.
