The first two parts mainly revolved around Assane's quest to avenge his father and settle scores with the powerful Pellegrini family. The third season then placed the hero in a different situation. He became one of the most wanted men in France, and his constant escapes began to increasingly affect his family and closest friends.
In the end, he did something we would have least expected from him. He voluntarily turned himself in to the police and ended up behind bars. However, even there, the past did not stay behind closed doors. Hubert Pellegrini, the man who was at the very beginning of Assane's story, ended up in the neighboring cell.
The fourth season thus starts from a very interesting position. Lupin has always worked primarily because Assane was several steps ahead of everyone else. Disguises, false trails, perfectly prepared heists, and Paris as his playground are part of the show's DNA. But what happens when you lock up a person whose greatest advantage is freedom of movement?
Netflix is currently keeping the specific plot of the new season under wraps. However, we know that Omar Sy and other familiar faces are returning, and the fourth season will offer eight episodes. If the creators can maintain the previous lightness, tension, and joy from well-prepared tricks, Lupin still has plenty of room to surprise. Because one thing is true about Assane Diop: when it seems he has nowhere to run, he probably already has a plan ready.
