The legacy of the Theresienstadt masters

The focal point of the program is the work of the authors of the so-called Theresienstadt school – Pavel Haas and Viktor Ullmann. Their works, although created in the tragic backdrop of wartime years, stand out with incredible inner strength, inventiveness, and faith in humanity. In the performance by internationally acclaimed tenor Jan Petryka and pianist Johanna Haniková, interpretations that transfer these historical parallels into the contemporary context will resonate.

Program dialogue

The concert is not just a retrospective, but a lively conversation between generations and musical styles.

·        Pavel Haas & Viktor Ullmann: Pillars of the program representing the peak of Central European musical modernity.

·        Ineo Quartet: A young, dynamic ensemble that breathes new energy into the scores and confirms that this music is still relevant.

·        Symbolism of the place: The architecture of the Spanish Synagogue enhances the theme of hope and continuity, which is inherent to the festival.

„The Eternal Hope Festival is not just about remembering. It is about finding beauty and strength where we least expect it. The connection of Jan Petryka with the Ineo Quartet in this space is exactly the dialogue we want to convey to the audience,“ say the festival organizers.
