Children's corners, a sweet buffet, and a secret expedition for catfish. Where to go (not only) on Children's Day?

Children's corners, a sweet buffet, and a secret expedition for catfish. Where to go (not only) on Children's Day?

The International Children's Day is approaching, along with the parental dilemma of how to combine a top-notch culinary experience with a peaceful afternoon where even the youngest family members won't get bored. The Gastroaliance Together breaks the myths that you must only sit quietly in good restaurants. In Together's establishments, children are the main stars. While parents can quietly enjoy great food, animators take care of the kids in playrooms, they are entertained by creative workshops or special interactive menus. Here are places where children can become explorers, pastry chefs, and bartenders.

Vinohradský Parlament and Bruxx: A Children's Paradise at Náměstí Míru with its own taproom and a monitoring app for parents

Are you craving Belgian mussels and beer specials from the Bruxx restaurant, or are you tempted by authentic Czech cuisine at Vinohradský Parlament? You may not know it, but these two completely different worlds at Náměstí Míru are connected by one fundamental thing – a shared kingdom for the little ones. While upstairs in Bruxx conversations flow over glasses of beer and roasted duck disappears from plates in the Parliament, one floor down, the true children's emotions are pulsing. The giant playroom with a ball pit and modern climbing structures is the link that transforms a family lunch into a relaxing experience. A unique feature is the children's taproom, where little guests can pour their own lemonade and for a moment become the heroes of their own bar. On weekends, the playroom also turns into an authentic animation paradise under the supervision of experienced hostesses. And what about the parents who worry a bit about their offspring? A special mobile app allows you to monitor the happenings in the playroom in real-time from your phone while you enjoy your dessert in peace.

Brambory na Pankráci: A Sweet "All You Can Eat" Buffet Where Rules Are Forbidden

If your kids love potatoes in any form (and let’s be honest, which child doesn’t love fries?), then the Brambory na Pankráci restaurant is a must-visit. But it’s not just about savory dishes here. The biggest magnet that reliably lights up the eyes of every little diner is the sweet buffet in "eat as much as you can" mode. Forget about disciplined seating at the table. In this sweet paradise, children can help themselves to mountains of fresh pancakes, crepes, or fluffy profiteroles and decorate them with whatever they can find according to their own imagination. It’s their first lesson in culinary improvisation, leaving them with smiles from ear to ear (and sometimes a bit of chocolate on their faces). While the kids are having fun at the buffet or in the adjacent playroom, where creative tasks await them on weekends (11:30 AM – 4:00 PM), you can calmly enjoy potato specialties from around the world. And when it comes time for family sharing of a portion of golden fries, know that at this table, there will be a battle for the last piece.

Sia: Asian Expeditions for Little Explorers

Is Asian cuisine just for adults who know how to use chopsticks? At Sia restaurant in the center of Prague, you’ll be quickly disabused of this misconception right at the door. For kids, Asian exoticism is served as an exciting journey into new flavors. Instead of boringly waiting for food, little travelers receive themed workbooks and coloring pages that guide them through the world of Asian traditions. The children's menu here is designed to be healthy while also visually appealing. Sia is the perfect place to show kids that food can be an adventure without the fear of spicy chili.

Mexická Holešovice: A Journey for Adventure with Monkey Friends and Tacos

In the Holešovice Mexican restaurant, you don’t wait for the food to arrive at the table on weekends. Here, you embark on an adventurous expedition! Led by the staff, children explore the three floors of the restaurant, getting a peek directly into the chefs' hands and uncovering the secrets of how to prepare (not just) the best tacos. Along the way, they greet live catfish in the tanks, and this "mission" ends with a well-deserved reward – a scoop of honest ice cream. Since the restaurant is an adoptive parent of a monkey from the Prague Zoo, you leave with a monkey balloon and original coloring pages. And what about the food? It’s one big creative challenge. The absolute hit is the children's tacos, which little diners assemble themselves according to a cartoon guide. Thus, lunch becomes a creative workshop where playing and experimenting with food is allowed.

Cukrář Skála: A Sweet Factory Like a Fairy Tale

For the biggest pastry adventure, head to the Špork Palace. At the Cukrář Skála factory, children experience a scene straight out of a fairy tale about a sweet factory. Through the glass, they can watch pastry masters in real-time as they create colorful pralines, fill cream horns, or work their magic with top-quality artisan ice cream. It’s the best place to go for something sweet on Children’s Day. Skála has prepared a special children's menu full of playful desserts for the little celebrants. From May 30 to June 1, special "bear heads" filled with strawberry mousse will be available for sale. These heads will have various toppings, such as raspberry, chocolate, milk chocolate, and mango, and will be decorated with fondant. Other playful desserts include smiling bears in both milk and dark chocolate and cheerful piglets with flowers or butterflies.
