Deep Purple Tribute - Strange Kind Of Women in Prague

Deep Purple Tribute - Strange Kind Of Women in Prague

Deep Purple are considered by many to be the most innovative and successful rock band of all time, as well as an unimitable band. However, 7 years ago, this uniqueness was challenged when a purely female European group emerged that imitated the magic of Deep Purple with a lively and unrestrained feminine expression.

Eliana Cargnelutti, the leader and guitarist from Udine near Venice, came up with the idea of an all-female tribute band to Deep Purple and had a clear vision of the musicians she needed to turn her shining vision into musical reality. Thus, the energetic formation Strange Kind Of Women was born, featuring Eliana Corgnelutti on guitar, vocalist Alteria (Virgin Radio) from Milan, bassist Paola Zadra, France-based Hammond organ player Margherita Gruden, and the fantastic drummer Chiara Cotugno.

The band Strange Kind of Women (SKOW), whose name was inspired by one of Deep Purple's most famous songs, debuted live in January 2019 and within a few months received many requests for performances around the world. Soon the greatest tribute came when in 2019, Ian Paice - the legendary drummer of Deep Purple and the last remaining founding member of the band - appeared on stage with SKOW and praised Strange Kind of Women, stating: "Playing with them is really fun. They really do a great job, have a great sound, and give it their all. I really enjoyed playing with them."

At the concerts in Prague and Brno, the most famous hits of Deep Purple will not be missing, such as Child In Time, Smoke On The Water, Strange Kind Of Woman, Highway Star, Space Truckin’, all performed with a bombastic, dynamic sound that matches the original from over 50 years ago. Their two-hour set includes additional songs from the Ian Gillan era, such as Speed King and Into the Fire, as well as classic tracks from the later era, like Lay Down Stay Down, Mistreated, and the electrifying Burn.
