Zbyněk Sedlecký: Location – exhibition at the Smečky Gallery in Prague

The point of intersection between the eye and the observed place. Focusing on the detail of the perceived whole. The images of Zbyněk Sedlecký have long shown an orientation reminiscent of an observer with an optical microscope and at the same time a person capturing a fleeting moment through a camera using zoom. These moments are further enhanced by a subtle blurring of the image, which gives the painting an impression of lively trembling.

New edition

The author studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Brno University of Technology in the studio of Jiří Načeradský and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under Professor Jiří Sopko. From the very beginning, we can observe in the paintings of Zbyněk Sedlecký not only an interest in figurative themes but also a sense for capturing the detail of a moment, an instant of sight. Here we find figures of visitors at vernissages, people at a bus stop, or situations related to the city, such as a section of a construction crane, a stretch of road, or a fragment of a building. There are pictorial intersections of the person with the environment around them.
