Until December 21, the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre presents legendary performances of Hurvínek's Mikuláš, marking the premiere of which will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. When one says “Mikuláš”, everyone imagines a mysterious man with a white beard, a tall hat, and a staff in hand, accompanied by an Angel and a Devil. Many children are gifted with treats, while the naughty ones await a stocking full of coal. Thus, Hurvínek and Mánička waited impatiently for Mikuláš's arrival. However, what happened when the absent-minded Mr. Spejbl forgot about the gifts? You will find out in this fairy tale for children aged 4 and up.
Even after Vánoce, Hurvínek does not rest! The performance Fairy Tales for Hurvínek is scheduled from December 28 to December 30. Hurvínek and his inseparable friend Mánička will embark on a journey into the world of fairy tales a total of eight times. On their journey, they will meet not only Dlouhý, Široký, and Bystrozraký, but also the wise old man and other fairy tale characters. It is certain that they will have a great time together with the children.

All performances take place in the Congress Hall of the Grand Hotel International, where at the end of the year the theatre will conclude its temporary operations. The reconstruction of its home is nearing its successful completion, and in February 2026 the theatre will welcome audiences back to the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre in Dejvice, where many new things will be prepared for them.
You can find the complete program on the theatre's website www.spejbl-hurvinek.cz. The presale of tickets for the February and March performances will start on December 15 at 9 AM.

About the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre
The Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre was founded in Plzeň in 1930 by Josef Skupa, making it the first professional puppet theatre in Czechia. From the very beginning, it has performed for both children and adults. In Prague, the theatre has been operating since 1945 – originally in Římská Street in Vinohrady and since 1995 in Dejvice. After its founder, Josef Skupa, the theatre was significantly shaped by Miloš Kirschner, Helena Štáchová, Martin Klásek, and other artistic personalities. Currently, the theatre's director is Denisa Kirschnerová.
The main characters in all productions are Spejbl (1920) and Hurvínek (1926) – father and son – each representing one generation and its view of the world. Their traditional adversaries are a similar female pair, Hurvínek's inseparable friend Mánička (1930) and her pedagogically oriented “grandma”, Mrs. Kateřina Hovorková (1971). This basic quartet of protagonists is complemented by Spejbl's and Hurvínek's dog Žeryk (1930) and, as needed, other characters. Spejbl and Hurvínek, together with their friends, have visited 34 countries on four continents and have spoken twenty-three languages to this day.
