There are movies for which we do not need dramatic scenes or a surprising ending. We return to them because of the feelings they can evoke in us. Home Alone is one of those films that reliably sets the mood for Christmas, across all generations. It only takes the first familiar melody, and we are back with the McCallisters, where the pre-Christmas chaos is at its peak, and one little boy wishes to have the whole house to himself. A great deal of credit goes to the brilliant music of John Williams. It accompanies Kevin's adventurous exploits, adds excitement to his battles with the burglars, and effortlessly transforms the comedy into a story about how much we actually need our loved ones. When watching normally, we often perceive the music without paying special attention to it. But at a concert performance, we can fully discover how much emotion it brings to the film.

While the entire film will run on the big screen in the original Czech dubbing, underneath it, the Prague Pop Symphonics symphony orchestra, along with a mixed and children's choir, will create a musical accompaniment perfectly in sync with the visuals. Every note will be produced live in the hall. You will see the strings in motion, musicians waiting for their cue, and singers whose voices will blend with the orchestra at just the right moment. Familiar scenes gain immediacy and power that can surprise even viewers who have seen the film countless times. When "Somewhere in My Memory" then resonates, the Christmas magic of the film transfers from the screen to the entire hall.

How powerful such an evening can be was demonstrated by last year's Czech premiere. The sold-out O2 universum united laughter, emotion, and finally, enthusiastic standing applause, which was a well-deserved reward for everyone on stage. It was the extraordinary response that led the organizers to decide to repeat the project. “Last year's concert was a huge milestone for our orchestra. The audience's reactions were incredible and confirmed to us that it makes sense to repeat this project,” says Lenka Dandová, director of Prague Pop Symphonics.

“This year's return is an invitation for those who want to experience it again, as well as for everyone who missed last year's premiere. And also for families looking for an opportunity to spend a pre-Christmas evening together and give their children something they won't experience at home in front of the TV,” invites production orchestra member Lukáš Cach. For young viewers, Kevin's adventures can be a beautiful first encounter with a large symphony orchestra. They will come for the beloved film and hear the power of live instruments and human voices. Additionally, they will see their peers in the choir—perhaps they will recognize a friend among them. Thanks to the Czech dubbing, everyone will truly enjoy the film. Each person will take something of their own from the evening, but the memory will be shared.

Home Alone in concert offers much more than just another December viewing of a Christmas classic. It is an opportunity to enjoy the familiar story in all its musical beauty, to laugh together with a full hall, and to be moved again by scenes you thought could no longer surprise you.
Home Alone in concert will take place on December 15, 2026, at Prague's O2 universum. Tickets are on sale. Last year's performance sold out completely, so it's worth choosing your seats early—especially if you want to enjoy this Christmas evening with the whole family.
