The main event of November will be the first year of the Mělník Film Festival MEFIF, which will transform the center of Mělník into a meeting place for film enthusiasts on November 6 and 7. Forty short films by emerging, student, and amateur creators will compete in the categories of feature film, animation, and documentary. The winners will be decided by an expert jury and the audience. However, the festival will offer much more than just film screenings – you can look forward to music, workshops, lectures, wine, and local gastronomy. MEFIF is a great opportunity to combine a cultural experience with exploring the city and its businesses.

As Advent approaches, the region will light up with Christmas tree lights and fill the air with the aroma of mulled wine, sweets, and traditional delicacies. The Advent celebration in Mělník's náměstí Míru and the St. Barbara's fair in Neratovice will take place on November 29. December will then offer a pre-Christmas craft fair at the Regional Museum of Mělník, an exhibition of nativity scenes in Velký Újezd, Advent markets, concerts, and a live nativity scene in Chodč. The festive atmosphere will also be enhanced by the Czech Christmas mass in Neratovice and an Advent concert at the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Mělník.

And what about after the New Year? There will be no reason to stay at home then either. The winter season will gradually be replaced by traditional carnival parades, masks, music, and good food. The Mělník carnival is planned for February 7, 2027, and other folk traditions will invite gatherings across the region. Mělník and Kokořínsko thus prove that even the colder months can be full of inspiration, experiences, and reasons to set off on an excursion.
