The Fanta Building is one of the most significant Art Nouveau works in the Czech Republic. The Art Nouveau artistic style originates from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and is based on highly elaborate decorations with an emphasis on natural motifs - flora and fauna. The author of the main railway station building, Josef Fanta, also collaborated on a number of other valuable buildings including the Rudolfinum and the National Theatre.
Historically, the spaces of the Foyer Café served as a waiting room for first-class passengers, but access was unavailable for many years. In 2023, the Railway Administration completed the reconstruction of the protected cultural monument, and the spaces are additionally nominated in the Interior of the Year competition in the Public Interior category for 2024.
Cafés at the station have their own charm
Observing departing trains in Art Nouveau design while enjoying a glass of champagne or quality coffee with the freshest pastries is a form of meditation in itself. The Foyer Café operation is launched by the gastronomic event group SPOJUJEME, which includes: Spojka Karlín Restaurant, Spojka Events and Endorfin event spaces, catering company, and Dark Kitchen bistro.
“We would like to create a place at the station that will be a great and comfortable environment for passengers. A place where it will be pleasant to hold business meetings, enjoy a glass of champagne with loved ones, or invite the family for a Sunday brunch. In cooperation with the Railway Administration and connecting the Foyer Café with the Fanta Hall, we offer new event spaces to the Prague market that will be comfortable for any event from conferences to festive parties,” says Andrej Zajcev, founder of the SPOJUJEME group.
Gastronomic experiences at Foyer Café: Champagne, Canapés, Tea on Friday
As an essential attribute for the café, quality coffee and fresh pastries were selected. Foyer Café offers French viennoiserie pastries baked fresh every morning in their own bakery. Throughout the day, the display case is full of homemade delicacies: granolas and sandwiches, canapés, and desserts.
You can come to Foyer Café to enjoy the Afternoon Tea ritual served in Czech Bernadotte porcelain with a selection of 6 types of canapés. From foie gras bruschetta to honey cookie with goat cheese.
For wine and champagne lovers, there are over 50 wines from Italy, France, Spain, and the Czech Republic. Foyer Café offers tasting packages of champagne and 3 flavors of canapés: Czech taste, Art Nouveau, Vegetarian style. In the evening, the café transforms into a fantastic cocktail bar atmosphere where professional bartenders prepare both classic and signature cocktails. And of course, beer is not forgotten here - Pilsner on tap is an integral part of the menu.
