In South Moravia, a tasting of... beer specialties awaits!

Southern Moravia is associated with wines of exceptional quality, but over the last decade, breweries of all sizes have also emerged and continue to grow here. They are collecting one award after another, and it's time to start discovering this phenomenon during trips through the sunniest region of the Czech Republic. Local brewers craft not only the classics but also a wonderfully diverse array of specialties that delight beer experimenters and female clientele alike, as each batch carries the signature of its creator and is often a very playful affair.

The region around Tišnov is a perfect destination for (not only) beer tourism. In the charming Lomnice near Tišnov, stop by the brewery with the distinctly ambiguous name Genius of the Night. Descendants of one of the owners have continued the brewery's history from the 16th century. The small pub at the old noble brewery is cozy, but in nice weather, you will most likely prefer outdoor seating with a view of the church. From Friday to Sunday, a colorful quartet of beers is on tap, and the friendly staff will gladly discuss any hop-related topic with you. You will taste interesting styles, with the owners' favorite being the strong Honeymoon. Just a few kilometers from here, you have Předklášteří and the monastery brewery in the Cistercian abbey Porta coeli. The area is one of the most significant architectural monuments in the Czech Republic. To this day, a community of Cistercian nuns lives here, but the place is also open to secular visitors.

In the native region of Alfons Mucha, the brewery Ivančice brews beer by a female master brewer. Beer is her life motto, love, and passion. The family craft brewery serves both bottom and top-fermented brews in elegant spaces. The brewing family has created a place for gathering over good drinks, serving delicacies made from carefully selected ingredients, and locals come here for homemade ice cream. Feel free to arrive by bike; outdoor seating accommodates that. The diverse hop offerings are infused with feminine elements, so you won't miss the light cycling Eight Two Sisters IPL or the thirteen Pinky Red Day Ale with its bright pink label. The lager twelve Alfons reminds us that we are in the native land of the already mentioned painter Mucha. The lookout tower Rénu is less than half a kilometer from the brewery.

There are dozens of breweries of all sizes scattered throughout South Moravia. The selection of the most interesting ones is presented annually by the gastro guide GOURMET SOUTH MORAVIA. It also recommends the best restaurants, bistros, cafes, and confectioneries, wineries, and small gastro stops like food trucks. You can obtain the guide for free as a practical brochure at tourist information centers throughout South Moravia.

THE FIRST CALF OF THE BISON IN DOLNÍ POČERNICE AND PLAYFUL FOALS IN THE ZOO AND AT THE CASTLES

Prague Zoo welcomes new additions outside of its Troja area as well. After two Przewalski's horse foals born in the Gobi exhibit, a colt has also been born at Dívčí hrady. For the very first time, the herd of European bison in Prague's Dolní Počernice has expanded. These largest land mammals in Europe, which nearly went extinct in the past, have only inhabited the spacious enclosure since last autumn. Visitors have the best chance of seeing the calf around ten to eleven o'clock in the morning.
