MATZIP: THE STORY OF AUTHENTIC KOREAN CUISINE IN THE HEART OF PRAGUE

MATZIP: THE STORY OF AUTHENTIC KOREAN CUISINE IN THE HEART OF PRAGUE

In the historic Josefov district of Prague 1 lies a small piece of Korea, the restaurant Praha Matzip. The Korean word “matzip” refers to a place known for delicious food, and that’s exactly what Matzip serves its guests every day.

New edition

Behind this restaurant is chef Donggyu Kwak, who came from the South Korean city of Suwon to share his passion for family recipes. From a young age, he helped his mother make homemade kimchi and dreamed of owning a restaurant where he could offer the world the taste of true Korean cuisine with no compromises or adjustments. Matzip is not just another Asian restaurant. It’s a place where traditional recipes are respected, fresh and homemade ingredients are used, and every dish is prepared with care for both tradition and the customer.

From spicy kimchi jjigae, bibimbap, and crispy fried chicken to their specialty tender marinated jokbal, every bite tells a story. In 2025, Matzip introduced a modern self-service table ordering system that combines traditional atmosphere with innovation and customer comfort. This system allows guests to order at their own pace while learning more about the dishes they’re enjoying. Matzip is not just about food. It’s about the experience. A place where culture, flavour and honesty come together. If you’ve never tasted real Korea before, start here.
