History
The original villa was built in 1841 and between the years 1888–1897 it was reconstructed in the Belle Époque style, which aimed to create a boldly beautiful and optimistic environment, distinct from the architecture of the time. The characteristic features of the period – joy of life, trust, and lightness – are preserved in the hotel to this day.
Since 1889, these premises have been home to and operated by master butcher and significant sausage producer Antonín Chmel, who produced the Zvonařka ham here for several decades and brought it to international fame; now known as Prague Ham. Later, the famous Czech painter Luděk Marold stayed here, decorating the villa with paintings that have been preserved to this day and give the spaces a unique historical and aesthetic touch.
