The video installation Solidarities functions as a speculative research laboratory.
In light of the exploitation of our planet, it is becoming increasingly urgent to rethink how we live alongside other non-human beings. What can we learn from the sustainable way of life of algae? The video installation Solidarities functions as a speculative research laboratory. In a series of videos, we are guided by a non-binary, fluid character who traverses a microalgae farm, plays underwater, and merges with objects made from algae. The hybrid being Zoé narrates the superpowers of algae and their symbiotic communities. Cultures of spirulina microalgae bubble meditative. New solidarities between species – this is a vision of the world after the Anthropocene. The project is realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the City of Prague, the State Fund for Culture of the Czech Republic, the Prague 9 district, the Goethe-Institut Czech Republic, the NEUSTARTplus working grant (Stiftung Kunstfonds / NEUSTART KULTUR BKM), Werkleitz, Kunsthof NIA, and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. Opening hours (including public holidays) Tue—Fri: 12:00—20:00 Sat—Sun: 10:00—18:00
