The English-language theater and comedy festival returns this May for the twenty-fourth time – and everything suggests that it will be an exceptional edition.
From May 26 to 31, Prague Fringe will once again transform iconic locations in Malá Strana into a vibrant international stage full of theater, comedy, storytelling, and spoken word.
With 42 productions and over 130 individual performances, the festival is honored this year to welcome back beloved Fringe stalwarts, including Pip Utton and Gareth Armstrong, whose critically acclaimed solo performance Shylock opened the very first Prague Fringe in 2002. This year, they will be joined by entirely new projects, international premieres, and talented new names from around the world.
One of the biggest names of this year's edition is British comedian Mark Watson, known for his sharp, lightning-fast humor and appearances on BBC shows like Mock the Week and Taskmaster. He will be the main star of a rich comedy program created in collaboration with the Prague Metro Comedy Club, which will transform into a hub of stand-up and sketches for the entire week.
Another major highlight of the program is the Festival of India, which brings four unique productions from the most populous country in the world – a colorful mix of spoken word, comedy, and theater. Key highlights include Love, Laughter & Longing, a poignant performance by Priya Malik and Simar Singh on the themes of identity and desire, and The Chai Queens – A Tale of Love & Longing, a theatrical portrayal of love and expectation within families, weaving together stories that resonate across cultures.
Queer Fringe this year presents bold, genre-defying works that explore identity, pleasure, and protest. Don't miss Fckboy, a raw and humorous look at gender dysphoria and the trans experience; Black Dress, an award-winning solo performance celebrating defiance and queer resilience; and Deeptime Atomic Waste Pleasure Party, a surreal, hedonistic journey into queer eco-futurism.
