Are you interested in what corners the gymnasiums in your area offer and what opportunities they provide for you and your children by joining Sokol?
This is the Night of Sokol Halls, also known as the nationwide day not only with architecture and history but also with active and versatile movement! The Night of Sokol Halls aims to familiarize the public with the architectural treasures hidden in the buildings of city and town centers, and above all, to showcase the wide range of versatile movement and leisure activities offered by Sokol units. The program is usually rich and admission is free. This year marks the 12th edition, taking place on Friday, June 19, 2026. The common theme for this year's edition is poetry. The poster this time features the Sokol Hall in Písek. Since 1875, the Písek Sokol members have struggled with insufficient exercise space, and voices calling for their own gymnasium grew louder. In September 1885, the first collection "For a New Gymnasium" was held, and five years later, the unit was able to purchase land for construction. The cornerstone of the Sokol Hall was ceremoniously laid in May 1895, and the grand opening took place a year later, in August 1896. The Písek Sokol Hall became the first Sokol hall in the region.

Prague Zoo welcomes new additions outside of its Troja area as well. After two Przewalski's horse foals born in the Gobi exhibit, a colt has also been born at Dívčí hrady. For the very first time, the herd of European bison in Prague's Dolní Počernice has expanded. These largest land mammals in Europe, which nearly went extinct in the past, have only inhabited the spacious enclosure since last autumn. Visitors have the best chance of seeing the calf around ten to eleven o'clock in the morning.
Prague Zoo is returning to the Union of Czech and Slovak Zoos (UCSZOO). The general assembly of this organization decided on the re-admission of Prague Zoo on Thursday, May 21. Thus, after almost four years, Prague Zoo has once again become a full member of this national association.
